: Got a call today....

from someone who said he worked for Pontiac and wanted me to participate in an owner satisfaction survey.

He had the standard list of questions ("on a scale of one to ten how do you rate the ... ) but to give him credit he did follow up with more questions if I mentioned problems. It was apparently a serious survey and not just another "marketing satisfaction" exercise.

Once I figured out he was serious, I gave him a full load of my opinions, mainly transmission and drive-by-wire concerns as well as the some of the more common things you've all heard about on the forums.

Once we got into the details it was apparent that he didn't work for Pontiac (which he readilly admitted when I asked). I guess when he asked if my 2008 G8 GT was a manual or an automatic that kind of gave the game away :)

He kept saying he was going to record my answers once we got into the details - which he did because I could hear the change in the phone line when the recorder was active. My chance for immortality, I guess :oldfogey:

All in all, I was impressed with the effort they went through to actually get accurate feedback from the owners.

So if you receive a call like this (this happened to be 30 days after my purchase - that may be a clue) don't just blow them off as meaningless marketing drivel - it may sound like it in the beginning but hang in there and you may be able to provide some valuable input and perhaps influence.

And, he closed the conversation by asking if it would be allright if he had some Pontiac emgineers give me a call later to get more detail - pretty impressive if they actually follow through.

Always knew being a gearhead would come in handy some day :)

It'd be nice if Pontiac engineers called and asked about some more technical questions. It really seems that Pontiac is trying to do a good job on this car(advertising, getting the right product out, etc.).

The Lordstown PLANT tried to contact me two or three times about my Cobalt SS/SC for an owner survey and even left the number to call back but I never did. They always caught me on my way home, when I was in a bad signal area, so all I got was a voice mail notice when I finally got signal.

Now with the SS/TC (TC for Turbocharged) coming out it seems they did listen to owners and solved alot of issues (w/ axle hop and stronger axles being the main concern for the Supercharged cars...). They even put out a video on youtube I believe showing them doing a full "competition mode" launch control burnout.

So if some of you owners get a call don't hesitate to tell 'em what you think... GM is listening and it WILL influence future year models to come...

I got the same call today. It was focused on the warranty.

My wife and I got a call from a marketing firm after we got our TSX with navigation. We created a picture book and filled out some surveys. Took about two hours. They sent us $150.00. I will have to check out the new nav in the latest gen TSX to see if they listened.

No call yet on my G8, but I did get a similar call when I bought my GTO. No one called back, however. I've also gotten a couple of J.T. Powers mail-in surveys on the Goat.

I got that call but never from an engineer.

Mine is still in the shop with the I think we found out whats causing the problem, lets replace all the part until it works. Then we can analyze each part.
