First off, let me say that I just bought my V6 G8 (2009...not the .5 based on the lack of BT and VIN from reading this board) 4 days ago and I'm already loving it (but also wishing maybe I had bought the GT if at all possible due to the greater number of posts/feedback/insights). My previous car was an '01 Bonneville SSEi and I was stoked to find out that a NA car could produce more HP than my supercharged bonne.

I was a member of the Bonneville forum and found lots of helpful info there so I hope you all can help me here. I would like to know know the answers to the following questions:

1. What are some easy, relatively cheap (under $300) mods that can be done that will increase the butt dyno but also not void the warranty?

2. Does anyone have any step by step instructions on how to hardwire a GPS (already read the Garmin Nuvi threads on this board) into the power port in the center console for someone with little to no electrical experience?

3. Why the hell did they put a power port in the console armrest with no gap for a wire to exit the box? Either I'm missing something or they expect me to drive with the armrest in the "up" position while a device is plugged into the armrest console port.

I ask this of G8 V6 owners only, as I know that the GT and GXP trims have different options and cosmetic differences. Thank you in advance and I will post when I feel I can contribute!

Congrats on your new G8 !!
Also welcome to G8Board.
So, questions one and two you can do a search on as there have been many posts on both of those subjects
For question three, I just simply close the console armrest right over the power cable, it works fine, I use that port to charge my cell phone.

CONGRATS. As far as mods for HP try a CAI. You might want to tweak the suspension later on. As far as the hard wire for the GPS, I toolk mine to Best Buy and they did a pretty good job.

Not a lot of engine performance mods available for the V6. The CAI will get an additional 10HP and a little more torque.

Most of my mods have been the suspension and I have several more to go. Power is great but handling, steering and control are my concerns.

In my opinion you have a top notch car there, and I'm sure all the V8 owners are wishing they had bought a V6 instead! LOL! Seriously, though, welcome to the "club" and enjoy your car for the wonderful machine that it is!
