Get the 19s. You can't beat winter tires for winter driving. All season wheels in any decent snow (which I think NY gets from time to time) will raise the hair on you neck. You do have to buy two sets of wheels, but your summer tires will last twice as long as all seasons :)
If you get the 18s, you will kick yourself every time you see the 19s on another car.

1 set for spring, summer and fall.
1 set for winter driving.
Making it 8 total wheels in all. Makes it easy and cheaper in the long run to just bolt them up yourself when you need them. :p

right. I plan on running the 19s during the summer, and getting a new set of rims and tires (tirerack) and put winter tires. Come winter, I jack it up, and switch out the wheels. I've done this with my GTO for the last two years:

That's all going to depend on what kind of wheels and tires you decide you want to get. :cartman:

Go with 18s for the winter tires. 19" winter tires are more expensive, and there are less choices.
You're looking at around $200/tire, tire rack has a close out at $94/wheel for the rims. Plus sensors in the wheel (for the tire pressure), $45/piece. $1400. It's not the cheapest route, but two full sets of tires will give you the best performance in both summer and winter. It all depends on if you get enough snow to justify the extra cost.

I have the 18s because I was impatient. If I had the 19s I would not be considering the purchase of 20s from the aftermarket and saved some $$$.

I bought 19's for the summer and I'll run my stock 18's in the winter.

Perry.
I have the 19's and love the wheel, tires and handling. The 18's don't look as good (in my opinion) and some cars with 18's come with Goodyear all-seasons that reduce the G8 GT to looking like a typical GM 4 door sedan. You have a great car so don't screw it up with 18" tires/wheels. The 19's are worth it to me.
