I'll get my chance Feb 24th at the Cleveland Auto show. The pictures out of Chicago will be good ....but nothings like seeing it in person. :yumyum:

I will be snapping pics and posting them on the 11th sometime. As to when it all depends on the hangover from the night before.

Odds are that it won't be coming to the N.C. International Auto Expo. So does anyone know when we should expect to see them on dealer lots? Right now I'm guessing probably along the same timetable as the GTO's were.

Damn. That pisses me off. Chances are it won't be at the Nasville International Auto Show either. For the last few years it's been mostly dealers bringing in their cars that are currently for sale. If one does show up at that show, they'll have to pry me out of the car.

I think the G8 will hit only the big shows... maybe Toronto (if the car is to be sold in Canada), NYC, and anything large. Forget the smaller shows like Milwaukee...

As far as availability... Pontiac Underground stated "early 2008". So, chances are it will be later than our GTO's (did't Pontiac ever learn from that?)

That's pretty much the same way it goes here in NC too, although sometimes they do have show cars that have just been introduced.

But really, it's not like they started from scratch. How hard would it be to put together several show cars for widespread viewing? All they had to do was slap a bumper, hood, spoiler and rims on it and call it a day.

If GM is smart, they would have a way to get the show car to as many shows as possible. Or have a couple extra for touring. If this is gonna be a big deal for them, they gotta push the product.

Didn't they have 2 Camaros touring last year? A silver one and a red one?

I won't see this beast for awhile.. or atleast at any auto show. The OC and LA auto show were just a few months back :( But being as its socal, it won't be long before I see one in person.

btw.. first post, hopefully of many. I've been a Honda owner for years looking for a good reason to buy domestic. The G8 is 100% what I want, GM hit the nail on the head and so long as they don't ruin the interior.. they've successfully pulled me in.

If they bring one to Raleigh I'll drive up, but otherwise it won't be worth it.

I think they are the same 20s that are on the G8 show car.

And to further comment on the HSV version- it doesnt appeal to me all that much. Sure the brakes look nice, but on the roads I drove on- 20 inch wheels would be torture- as would the replacement cost when those wear out. The front grill looks ok, but the bottom is way too busy, with the low point being the dual fog lights on either side- they come across as cheap to me.

Agreed, the HSV model doesn't appeal to me at all. My overbearing accessory days are long behind me and I think the HSV model is entirely too busy looks-wise.

I'm shooting for a bone stock white V8, probably some custom wheels, maybe some window tint, replacement LED tails a grill AT MOST and thats it. And thats over the lifetime that I own the car.

I agree with both of you on the HSV version - reminds me of the Pontiac days of yore, with wayyy too much cladding and over-styling. I think that's half the reason the VESSV and G8 really appeal to me, they're just clean and handsome vehicles.

Exactly. The G8 (non HSV) model is so damn sexy in its current state. Its been a very VERY long time since I've felt this strongly about a car. Perhaps its becasue I was looking for a sports sedan and wanted some V8 goodness at the same time.

I had my eye on an A4, but as soon as I heard about the G8 then saw it.... sold 100%. Also.. just to add, I'd likely do some suspension work but aside from what I already mentioned that'd likely cap my mod list. Just don't have the time nor the money to spend on cars like I used to.

Make it sexy, fat, fast, hard, and clean. :eek2:

Its So great to hear Of so much excitement of a Australian designed and built car. Makes us proud to be a Aussie when we can satisfy people world wide. Thank you to all you persons of the the U.S.A. interested in our car and I mean The U.S.A and Australia in the word "all". You are all welcome to the Land downunder if you wish to sample this magnificent car. Just remember over here the suspension is tuned for Australian conditions whilst I understand the suspension in U.S cars are a bit soft for our roads. Thank you all again.,
