So here's something I've been concerned about since I heard that the G8 would be using the L76.
Can the cam be replaced without any trouble? Or will DoD or VVT control interfere? If so, can those systems be disabled?
I know the DoD can be disabled with HPtuners, so I'm more concerned about the VVT. Granted, it will be easy to check valve-to-piston clearance when the engine is being assembled, but does anyone have any other thoughts/ideas on this?

I didn't think it was going to have VVT.

At least on the truck side the L76 has VVT

Variable Valve Timing, I think it's something similar to Honda's VTEC where once you get over a certain RPM mark, it makes more power. I could be totally wrong though, but I'm sure someone will chime in even though this thread is over 3 years old.

Thanks man that helps a lot. I had no idea.

The G8 does NOT have VVT, Only DoD. The cam CAN be replaced very easily, and DoD maintained with a small enough cam, or your can grab some parts (lifters, valley cover, few other things, TUNE) and get rid of DoD. Do some searching, there are already tons of threads on this.
