: Model year problem Survey
rcbs204 09-11-2009, 09:03 PM Hey guys,
I figured out this poll thing, and wondering if you are interested in finding out if the these cars have certian problems with certian years.
So here is what i would like to know, i have been seeing allot of problems here lately with the cars (http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23115#), and from what i have read, it seems to be more pronounced with the 2008 model year. I have personally had no problems with my 09 GT, but that is not to say that other 09 have not. Trying to see if the problems that are so common with the G8's is more prevalent in the 2008's or the 2009's.
Quietpro 09-11-2009, 10:58 PM Where's the option for no problems?
Rich-n-Texas 09-12-2009, 09:28 AM I clicked the button for other/electronics because the only real problem I've had so far is a dead Onstar backup bettery. It was causing the Onstar light in the rearview mirror to light red for about 8 minutes. My monthly Onstar e-mails were indicating that my recall wasn't installed and that I should call Onstar and request a remote diagnostic. The tech at my dealer told me that GM and the Onstar service aren't always in sync right away, as far as recall reporting and such so I'll see what happens when I get my Sept report e-mail.
BTW, the tech had to take the entire back seat and rear deck off my car to replace the backup battery! :banghead:
HardTech 09-12-2009, 09:56 AM Why not one for 2009 - No Problems? or 2009 - Dealer caused problems?
MANOFSTEEL69 09-12-2009, 10:00 AM 2008
Broken Carrier Support
Resolution: Replacement of entire drive line.
Unknown for now if this has cured the problem or not as I won't be back in Tigger till Wednesday.
T-Type 09-12-2009, 10:54 AM The only real problem I have is the radio screen going blank when I start it every so often. Of course the dealer can find nothing.
Otherwise it's a great car and I'm very happy with it.
SpeedRacerX 09-12-2009, 11:32 AM One, you should have an option for no problems.
I'll vote but where would I place the oil seep/leak?
That's the only problem I have.
Rich-n-Texas 09-12-2009, 12:12 PM I would use the "2009, Engine Problems", SpeedRacerX.
SpeedRacerX 09-12-2009, 12:20 PM I would use the "2009, Engine Problems", SpeedRacerX.
Done.
Rich-n-Texas 09-12-2009, 12:39 PM So far, 12 with 2009 problems, 2 with '08 problems. I think there needs to be MUCH more participation in this poll in order to get an accurate picture. And some people don't seem to be able, functionally, to answer polls on the G8 board for some reason.
RamJet 09-12-2009, 01:26 PM I haven't had any problems with my 2008 GT. All of my "problems" are due to the repairs after the hail damage.
I would click the "2008 No Problems" circle.
G8GTSBM 09-12-2009, 01:40 PM I keep seeing black marks on the pavement in my rear view mirror after my g8 shifts from 1st - 2nd can't figure it out. :driving:
WhiteHotG8GT 09-12-2009, 02:19 PM What category does "self-loosening gas cap" fall into? (The new "Three Clicks" gas cap from the dealer seems to have fixed it.)
CRL 01 SS 11-02-2009, 11:26 AM The only problem that I have had on my 2009 G8 GT is oil seeping around the seal on the block-off plate that is above the oil filter. I'm taking it to the dealer to be fixed this week.
jackalope 11-02-2009, 12:08 PM 2009 other/electrical. Half of the 3rd brake light went dead, they replaced it and no other problems at this time.
2quik4u 11-02-2009, 06:09 PM You need to add an option for multiple problems. Im taking my 09 in this coming week because I just noticed an oil leak near the transmission. Im also having the ball joints checked as I believe they are bad and I have the 2-3 shift flare issue. So unfortunately I beleive I have engine, transmission, and suspension issues. Hopefully they will all get taken care of at once.
deluxe 11-02-2009, 06:23 PM There should be seperate polls. One for v6, One for GT, One for GXP. Engine problems will be very different. An 09 v6 might be fine where on 09 GXP might have issues. Wouldn't be able to differentiate with this poll.
G84ME! 11-02-2009, 06:49 PM For the first time, today...other than it's normal "cold engine" tranny into 1st smack, on the highway the tranny did "something", but I'll come back here after a few more drives since I've never felt this before in the car.
BrandonG777 11-02-2009, 06:54 PM Bad poll, I've had issues with door handles, suspension and the sun roof. There was a selection for mutliple areas.
willie 11-03-2009, 08:16 AM No problems here !!! Best car i ever owned ( including my jags ) willie
karl f 11-19-2009, 08:26 AM "BTW, the tech had to take the entire back seat and rear deck off my car to replace the backup battery! "
Where is this battery specifically mounted, and is it only for Onstar? Just dropped my car off for the boot recall and they had a base model completely torn apart to replace.
Thanks.
PaFromFL 11-19-2009, 08:58 AM My pulsating brakes "problem" has gradually diminished (probably caused by uneven rotor rusting while in transport or sitting on the lot). Everything else is satisfactory at the 2000 mile mark.
UncleBenny 11-19-2009, 12:32 PM 2009 MY, 7500 miles, no problems to speak of.
rayainsw 11-19-2009, 12:35 PM No problems here !!! Best car i ever owned ( including my jags ) willie
Although [ prior to the XF intro ] Jag problem frequency appeared to
have diminished substantially - I still would not hold them
as any sort of standard...
[ Though I do like them - a lot - and came very close
to buying an S-Type R a few years ago. ]
Now,
If you have typed:
"including my Lexus sedans"
THAT would be different...

1 problem, now fixed = happy G8 GT driver...
jrc1122 11-19-2009, 12:42 PM Where does the infamous rear floor board flooded problem fit in.. Many Many people on here have had leaking problems.
Some are supposidly attributed to Door Sills, Some are supposidly Side mirror issues, some are sunroof issues, and lastly, the AC vent drain tube.

Ditto, car is a piece of crap
dal20402 11-19-2009, 11:50 PM When you are evaluating the results don't forget that more than twice as many '09s were sold as '08s.
My '09 GXP has had no significant problems.
CaptainDan 11-24-2009, 12:44 PM ......BTW, the tech had to take the entire back seat and rear deck off my car to replace the backup battery! :banghead:
Removing the rear seat and rear shelf are no big deal. They snap in place and can be removed/ replaced in five minutes.
BMWAP 11-24-2009, 05:13 PM 12,000 in 6 months and no problems other than I can't track down why there is so much wind noise from double and triple sealed doors.
