I went to the show this morning. Several dozen Pontiacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, and a couple of late-model Cadillacs. No G8 although there was one sharp Australian GTO, a nice Grand Prix GXP, a whole flock of old GTO in a variety of conditions, plus the expected herds of Firebirds, Catalinas, etc.

The highlight of the show for me was a 1938 Oldsmobile F60 sedan Street Rod, with Purple metal flake paint and real wire wheels. I wish I'd had my camera.

There was also a red convertible GTO pre-production "brochure car," from 1964 I think. VIN #52. Supposedly it was built solely for the purpose of having its picture taken for brochures.

The third highlight of the show was two guys talking about the new G8 GXP (Liquid Red, M6, roof) for sale in the showroom. After a quick look under the car, one confidently proclaimed to the other that it was front wheel drive.

I enjoyed the show. Very laid-back. It was worth driving 25 miles for, although I wouldn't have driven a thousand.

I guess I should've entered my G8. Could've won in the categories of "most scraped-up front air dam" and "most wax residue on moldings."
