I am looking into finally purchasing a G8 GTafter "considering" for way too long. Here is the deal I am looking at.
2009.1 GT, White Hot - Onyx/Red, Premium & Sport packages
msrp = $34,155
Dealer's final price = $28,900 after rebates and them "losing money on the deal". :bs:

I also quallify for GM Supplier Pricing, but I haven't played that card yet.

Here are my questions:
1. If the dealer gives me supplier price, does GM reimburse them for the discount? If so, the "we are losing money" agument holds no water.
2. I recieved a certificate in the mail for $500 off. Are they going to give me the "that is already included" or do I throw this in as my last minute ace? Again, does GM reimburse this to the dealer?

Here is deal I can have if I didn't do any haggling.
msrp = $34,155
Supplier price = $33,259.61 (acording to GM site)
Rebate + cert = $4,000
Price before any dealer involvement = $29,259.61
This means that $359.61 is what the dealer is taking off the car. Not much is it?

How much should I expect them to come off with $4,900 being given right back to them from GM (rebate/supplier)? By the way this particular dealership has two locations in the area with over 20 G8's and 5 that match mine.

I'm looking to get this done today so any imput would be great.

Thanks,
Jake

Looks like the same deal I just got, but my dealer had to trade with another dealership. I can't say as my deal was before I was aware of this site, but they did say that that price included all available incentives.

SBT,
Did you recieve the Supplier Price discount or was your price what the dealer worked up for you?

I would think you would be better off to shoot for invoice less incentives, certificates, etc. I don't have specific numbers for a $34,155 car but our $35,190 car had about $1,700 markup which would put you at $32,455, a much better starting point than supplier pricing. The dealer still has their 3% hold back so they are not losing money. Our local dealer will not give up any hold back money but I'm sure other dealers will depending on the circumstances.

My deal fell through today. One thing the dealer mentioned was that did not have any hold back on the G8's they have left. :err:

I thought the deals would be a little better now. I got mine for $28,800 OTD at the end of June, same exact options as yours.
