So i went to Irwindale Speedway today to test my car out on the 1/8th mile. The problem that i had was gettin the rpm's up while i was about to launch. Meaning, the car would creep forward after 1000 rpm's. Any advice???

Hold the brake pedal.
Or just stab it from an idle.

I would just get on it with the G8. I couldn't do that with my 96 z28 a4 or I'd be all over the place. I'm loving the grip my G8 has with the tc turned off. Now I'm going out on a limb here (guys chime in), but I read that the G8 has torque management. So I would guess that by loading the suspension up when at the line would make the car slower? Would the computer see that power is being added but no movement and tone the torque down?

the best launches i had with my TB SS when it was stock was when i loaded it to about 2000 and let off the brake and slammed the accelerator when the light hit last yellow... the SS would creep if you didn't press the brake hard enough, but without driving the g8 aggressively yet, i can't tell ya... soon though... but on prior knowledge, turn ST and TC off, rev to 1500ish and let her rip on last yellow...

From what I've been reading, this seems fairly accurate. A tune should fix it.

I watched a show a couple years ago where a guy tested a lot of auto cars and came up with 1800RPM being about perfect launch RPM's.

I've used it several times and it gives you minimal spin but still gets the engine closer to its sweet spot.

With the stock tune the G8 GT will only let you load the car (brake torque) to a max of 1500 rpms, you have to hold the brake down pretty hard to prevent the car from creeping forward.

Also, is there a separate button for the 'Traction Control', besides the ESP button that's located between the seat warmer buttons?

i know on the SS you just hold the button for 10 seconds or so and it will turn both tc and s/c off...

Thanks........... I'll have to try that. I looked all over in the G8 GT manual and didn't see a thing on "Traction Control"

I'll give that a try though............
