My new gm sensors for my g8 and new wheels threw a code. I found out the sensors on these cars have to be put in by a dealer. Mine were installed and working fine and then I was driving a long and all the sudden the Tire Fault came on my dash. That sucked, so, I called my dealer and found out the sensor part number has to be put in by gm dealer. So, if this happens you'll know what to do. I'm going to get my fixed today.

Are you sure they have to be put in by the dealer? I had mine done at discount well over a week ago and have not had the TPMS light come on once.

The sensors are "self resetting", and should not need a trip to the dealership unless they are defective. We have heard many dealerships don't have the software needed for this new sensor, however.

The sensors won't self set, however there is a relearn mode on the car, you turn on the key and press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time, the horn will beep twice and then they can be set with a progammer which about every tire dealer has now. They scanned each wheel, when the computer is set for the sensor in that wheel the horn will beep once and thats it. The dealer I bought the car from was full of ****. My local dealer is the one that told me the correct way to do it and the tire dealer fixed me right up. So, don't always believe the dealer you buy **** from, ask another dealer for additional information. Works great now.
