So I bring my new G8 over to my friend's house to show off the Pontiac... I've already told him the car is powered by a 361 HP engine and rivals a BMW in looks and styling. The constant skeptic when it comes to new cars (the guy hauls a** around town in 1974 Delta 88 convertible outfitted with a 350 Olds Rocket -- so he thinks he understands powerful Detroit muscle).

At first glance, he immediately sees the comparison to the BMW -- and when I press him back in the seat as I pound the pedal to get on to the highway and got it up to 100 mph, he is duly impressed.

So within an hour or so, he's sold on the car -- and starts hinting that he wants to settle in behind the wheel and pound some pavement. (Remember, he still thinks his 350 Rocket is the boss of the road!) So the dude takes the car up on to the highway and gives the new girl a little juice.

At the time, I'm sitting in the backseat, as my friend's wife has come along for the ride. And that's when it hits me. Not only is the G8 a top-notch machine when it comes to the power plant and accessories -- this car has amazing room in the backseat. It's extremely comfortable and roomy, even when the passenger seat is moved all the way back. Pontiac really got this car right, from the engine to the backseat and every point in between.

Very true. That's one of the first things I do when I look at a sedan - get in the front seat, adjust to a comfortable driving position, then immediately get out and get into the back seat behind the driver's seat.

Most sedans fall short in the leg department (have to put one leg on either side of the drivers seat), or if they don't, you have to lean forward because there is no room for your head if you sit up straight.

My TBSS falls short in the leg department (but not in regards to headroom, which is why I got it), and most every sedan, including the 5-series BMW, fall short with inadequate headroom.

The G8 has both, in spades. :judge:

Back seat of your own car? Wow. I was in the passenger seat of my GTP twice. Once when I let my friend test drive it before I purchased it and another time when I let my 5.0 Mustang friend drive it a mile down the road... it just feels too odd to me lol.

Same here! It still doesn't feel right letting the wife drive "my" car to work. But then again, us married guy's know what I'm talking about. :slap:

So does sitting in any seat other than the driver's seat. I'm trying to sell my GTO & someone test drove it a couple of weeks ago. I was bored & looking for something to do while riding. :eyetwitch:

The back seat sold me at the Dallas Auto show. The front seats were all the way back and i still could fit. Not to mention the head room. If you look up you will see how they molded a few more inches to give the interior height

When I took a test drive in a V6 model, before buying my GT, I took my younger brother along. At 6'3" and 260 lbs he was comfortable everywhere in the car.
