: New O.Z wheels with pics
petmj1 04-27-2008, 07:06 AM Just put on this past weekend. Got them on close-out from tirerack.com. I have a small vibration above 70mph so I will have to take back to have them check the balancing. When I first saw them, I thought they were too busy.....probably because I was use to the oem wheels. However, I'm very happy with them. Just by lifting them, I can tell they are quite lighter that the stock wheels.
Mr. Sandog 04-27-2008, 07:36 AM Excellent. I prefer a lip on my wheels, but those are sharp. Nice to see a G8 with other than stock wheels. Congrats!
Rue_G8GT 04-27-2008, 08:11 AM Those look really good. Excellent choice.
OilfieldSS 04-27-2008, 08:21 AM not bad, how does the weight compare to stock?
sccaGTO 04-27-2008, 08:59 AM Looks good. Nice choice.
locrzng888 04-27-2008, 09:09 AM Looks good, are the 19's?
petmj1 04-27-2008, 11:10 AM yes, these are the same size as stock 19x8. I believe the offset is at 40mm. Had the dealer just swap the tires and tire pressure monitors. I had to get new valve stems but they only had two in stock so my two rear tires do not have them for now. I'll be driving around with my tmps light on the dash for about a week.
As far as weight, the O.Z's weigh 28lbs per wheel. I image the stock wheels are around 35 or so. I do feel a difference. The stocks did feel quite heavier. Thanks for the nice comments!!
Mr. Sandog 04-27-2008, 11:21 AM So you just put the stock tires on your new rims? If so, do you mind taking the stock wheel and putting it on a scale of some sort? I know there are a few of us interested in knowing what the stock wheel weight is.
SilverFox 04-27-2008, 12:19 PM Not my style, but as long as you like them. :)

I just tried this a while ago....not sure how accurate to take that big wheel and put on our bathroom scale....but I weighed twice and both times came to 36lbs. Hope this helps. thx.

One way is the weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding onto the wheel. That is very accurate. ;)

x2 on that.
I have a digital scale in my bathroom though and it sometimes has a mind of its own. The first time you step on you always way the least. Go for a 2nd or 3rd time and you will weigh more.
locrzng888 04-27-2008, 04:52 PM Sandog, according to my scales the 18" wheel weighs 27 lbs. Wheel and tire weighed 54 lbs. and according to tirerack the goodyear rsa 245-45 weighs 27 lbs.
Oppps is missed the 19". I even asked the question. If the stock 19's weigh 36 lbs, they weigh more then my 19x9.5's.
LS2GTO 04-27-2008, 06:31 PM Nice looking wheels and car! Any clearance issues or rubbing while driving?
I really digg these. Nice choice.
They sorta resemble the stock ones, just larger

none....it's actually the exact same size as the oem 19" wheels.

okay....I weighed myself holding the wheel twice...first time, the wheel was 29lbs and the second it showed 30lbs. That's actually a lot lighter than I thought they would be.
mike c 04-27-2008, 07:37 PM Good looking rims.
This may help. I just shipped a stock 19" tire and wheel and the weight is 58lbs. according to UPS.

Yee, they're narrow, which helps, but still not bad for stock rims.
BlownChevy 04-27-2008, 09:13 PM very sweet wheels, I love the color / wheel combo!
