I am using the same detector I used in my camaro but it seems like it goes off much more in the g8. It is false alarms on laser and x band and when it goes off it goes full. I even adjusted it to low x city when I use to use highway and hardly ever got false alarms. anyone else notice this?

Nope, never had a radar detector until my G8 so I'm not much help, other than any store parking lot I get either a strong "X" band or "K" Band signal.

If you are worried about false alarms, ive been very satisfied with my Escort Passport 9500i, it has GPS and can lockout false signals.

I used this same detector in my camaro with no problems of false alarms. It just started when I put it in the G8. It is a beltronic 940. It has been very reliable. Just wondering if anyone else has notice a increase of false alarms in this car. Maybe the car is putting of some radio frequency that my camaro did not?

I also have a detector with GPs so any false alarms are blocked.

No change from my GP to the G8.

I have the Beltronics Vector 995 and no false alarms. Interesting though, if I place the detector in front of the radio the laser alarm goes off. Weird. I also had this same detector in my 96 z28. I highly recommend it.

That is where I have mine, under the mirror and above the radio. I get laser and X band. I understand I the false alarms on X band but I go the same places so I know where it should go off and it is much more sensitive with the G8. I also change from highway mode to City LowX mode which helped some.

I just bought a Beltronics Vector 995 and it does the same thing when in front of the radio. Does the radio have a laser in it???

It is a known issue that the LCD screens in cars set off the laser detector portion.

You need to keep the sensor away from the LCD screen, my V1 is fine when mounted above the dash, but move it down while plugged in and it squeals.......

i have my passport 8500 mounted on my dash just the same as in my monaro (gto) and it goes off in the same areas it did before! So I have not noticed any difference

+1 I Love mine, but spending 450-500 bucks is a a chunk of change. I took a lot of crap from my wife on spending that much. But as I explained to her, it will pay for itself in less than a year.

Haha, same here.... but then i explained to her that she could have my old 8500 for free!!! Or we could sell it on ebay for $150-200. She hasn't said a word since.

I have a V1 and notice the laser will false alarm when I'm behind an Envoy or pulling up to a store with a red fluorescent-tube sign. I don't know that you can do much about that....

The third brake light on GM vehicles gets the V1 laser going every time. Minor suffering for all the good a V1 does with its arrows. I can not live without it!

I have owned one since 1994, with my Porsche 911. I have had it re-built in 2001, something no other detetector manufacturer does. It works great. Not one ticket since I have owned it, it has outlasted 8 cars that I have owned since.

There is only one, the V1. You will never have to make an excuse for owning it.

My 9500i would also give false laser alarms occasionally and I think it was because it was catching a reflection from the sun. I say this because it would usually only occur around the same time of day in one very specific area. But if I drove the route any earlier or later in the day/evening I wouldn't get any alarm. And I also think high-intensity red lights (neon, emergency vehicle light bars) set them off occasionally

No issues with my Passport, but I dont get to drive as much as most of you, about 3 miles per day.

I have the V1 as well. It will go off in laser if in front off the LCD screen but mounted below the mirror it performs just like in previous cars. Laser does alarm sitting behind envoys and newer trailblazers etc... I swear by the V1 and its arrows and bogey counter.

I noticed my Valentine One goes off more often and I too changed the setting to a city mode.

One thing I have determined is more and more trucking companies are starting to outfit their tractors with a radar actuated braking system that applies the brakes if the truck gets too close to the car in front of it. I suspect this is being done to reduce insurance costs, reduce accidents and litigation.

I noticed I was getting radar signals detected from the rear and usually their is an Averitt Express truck following me. Look for a red Averitt Express truck when you have a constant X band signal. They are not the only truckload carrier doing this so it might be a different trucking company in your area. That might be what is causing some of your false signals.

Check it out and see if you notice the same thing.

Just a reminder to everyone to turn off X band if you can on your detectors it's practically not used anywhere anymore and the last state to have it, New Jersey, have transitioned into Ka band. I still wouldn't turn off X in NJ yet though. I know FOR SURE in Florida X band is not legal for use anymore to ticket speeders.
