: who else is a GTO alumni?

I traded in my 2005 GTO for a G8 GT last week and I couldn't be happier. My reasons were the four door practicality and the modern styling while retaining the rear wheel drive and big V8 power. I loved the GTO, it was more raw and a little quicker, but I am glad a made the switch. Wondering who else "graduated" to the G8 from a goat?

I too am a GTO alumni (06 SRM M6). Also for the same reasons you mention. I am definitely pleased with my G8GT, but truth be told, I do miss my GTO. The M6 was much more fun to drive and for whatever reason, it seemed much faster. Three kids made it tough to drive day-to-day and I ended up always cruising around in my 99 Yukon, which is not how I wanted to live. :)

I plan on keeping my 04 GTO since is about to be paid off. I'm holding out for the 09 G8 to be my daily driver.

I still have my 06 GTO. The GTO does seem faster and sound better...for now. :)
I found out about the G8 through an advertisment mailed to me by Pontiac because I was an existing Pontiac (GTO) owner.

GTO was faster, and louder, but I think with an exhaust and tune, it will replace what we gave up in the GTO for practicality in the G8.

'05 GTO is my DD, the G8GT is the wife's grocery hauler and family vacation car. The Goat is definitely quicker but the G8 is no slouch either. Still breaking it in so no heavy driving yet. One red, one blue parked in a white house.

My '04 will be up for sale just as soon as my car comes in (should be a few weeks)

Well, I haven't seen my 1965 GTO coupe in many years. Does that count? :p

04 a4 YJ alum. I really miss it, but after last night's killing of a 300c, the G8 has potential.

sold the 05 GTO for the G8. Same reasons you mentioned. the GTO was def faster, but its hard to compare becuase im still taking it easy on the G8 and its an automatic.

I think the correct question is, who ISN'T a current/former GTO owner.

Keeping the GTO, but I'll be looking for a used G8 to replace the wife's car in a year or so.

Traded in my 04 GTO 6 speed for the G8 GT. Very pleased with the G8. It is esentially a 4 door GTO IMO.

I traded my '04 for the '08 G8 GT. For me I needed to get out of a manual so that my wife could drive. Now I can take her SUV camping on the weekends. I also really needed the extra doors and trunk space.

I've got to say that the two cars have totally different personalities. The cammed GTO was LOUD and FAST. I really miss that car. The G8 is QUIET and REFINED. Of course, it is only a camshaft and headers away from being just as nasty as the GTO was. I sort of like the peace and quiet for a while.

yeah same here, needed more room and love the style of the G8.

I put my Monaro up for sale on the LS1 forum and it sold in about 1 month... for more than I hoped!!!:) I had three guys bidding on it. Thats what made my mind up to get the G8. I still have the memories form the Monaro. Best car I ever had.

Personally I love this car. IMO its all around faster than the GTO. I had an 04 with Exhaust, shifter and CAI. I have CAI and rear muffs on the G8 and I love the way it sounds, not so much at idle but at wot its so nice.

Depending on how much I like the GXP, I might get rid of my GTO.

Ex-05 GTO owner.

Sold mine awhile back, I got a good price and the buyer got a good deal, neither one of us hammered the other. I had run her at the track numerous times and she was still in great condition. Got rid of her while the getting was good.

And yes..............I do miss her!:cry::cry:
