At $USD4K it is a bit exxy, but if you want your G8 to look like a V8 Supercar, how about this ?

I don't like the gawdy wing or how the ground effects curve under the car behind the front wheels. the rest of it is alright, i guess

I assume all the snow and road debris collected at the front exits just behind the front wheels. And I assume all those quick release gizmos make body work at home after a trip to the market easy as pie.

The holes, pins, plugs, etc look stupid on a street car. The front bumper looks like the RMR bumper for the GTO, but unbelievably with a larger chin spoiler. The rear wing just doesn't belong on a street car, and the sides just look weird. The back doesn't look too bad, but then again, neither does the stock one. Just my opinion, but I think it's a good one :D

Does it come in a wagon?

P.S. Surely aftermarket MRC will allow ride hide adjustment.

that front fascia would be ripped clean off the car were it put on public roads. the look is very race car, but may be too much for the street.

I get tense sometimes with my OE ride height with the SS-V front end! I can't imagine driving that thing! A year ago I looked a really nice GTO with a custom front end with a low lip, and they wouldn't allow a test drive because they were afraid of someone ripping the front end off!

MABg8ter
06-04-2009, 03:59 PM
$4k isn't that much more than the SSV conversion, and it's about the same as the HSV...

If the front lip weren't so long in front of the car, and the wind wasn't so big, I think it'd look pretty good. If they made the bumper more in line with the red race car posted earlier and just kept the SSV spoiler I think it'd be badass.

the sideskirts are to much....make them smaller, maybe a drag wing coming off of the back instead of that rice wing, and the front facia would have to be quite a bit smaller for me to be interested.....the general idea is ok but that wing is the biggest turn off for me.

That is so far out of what I wanted in my GXP I can't even call it rice.

Seems like a combination of the worst Subaru/Toyota/Honda ricemobile onto the classiest body that Pontiac has ever made.

No thank you, sir.

As always, IMHO, but this is not where I'm going with the car.

IMHO, the first one is still to boy racer....the second one however is tolerable, with the exception of the two tone paint.....minust that i think thats the best besides the pontiac/HSV hybrid, which still blows that out of the water.

II do like the side vent without the marker light though.

If GM weren't tanking at the moment, I'd wager they would release the GT Street body kit from last year's SEMA. That is the only kit I'd rock. Love the front end.

Front lip to wide & I don't like the way the side skirts cut off before the front fender, it would look beter if the side skirts extended all the way from the rear tire fender to the front tire fender. I could also do without the huge spoiler.
However, it is nice to see at least someone making an attempt to make a body kit. Hopefully they can find a midpoint between gaudy and barely noticeable.

Rendering #1: better, more subtle. wing has got to GO! reminds me of the older honda civic with a fart can and wing and everybody laughing at him...
lacks fog/driving lights
#2: the extended lip in the front is a reminder of the front spoilers of the early '80s. :nonono:
I like the fog light setup... nicely integrated.

The first rendering was our proposal for SEMA 08. The concept of the car was BMW Eater. It was set up for road racing. Car never made it out of GM but Hey it was my first attempt with doing a SEMA. Of what I was told at SEMA in 08 they would of approved the car if I changed the color.

As for #2. That was this years proposal and at last minute, the day before the dead line GM pulled G8 from Sema. So I am still going to do a car for SEMA but it will be my own car and the front end is going to look alittle different than this and possible a slicker rear spoiler.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I'm sorry to revive this thread, but this needs to be said.

I have NO CLUE how any of you think that's rice. That is the EXACT aerokit from the VE Commodore V8 Supercar. All that 'crap' on the car was designed in a wind tunnel for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. I could see if it was some super Combat Warrior Versus Robocop bodykit with stupid scoops and **** all over the place, but everything on that car was designed for one thing, racing.

Front bumper:
Centre opening has three different sections, the centre one in there is radiator intake, and the two to the sides are for brake cooling. The dimples on the sides direct air around the car rather than it meeting a brick wall. The gigantor lip is for downforce on teh front end.

Side skirts:
The reason they pull in and up towards the front is because that allows trapped air under the front to escape as effectively as possible, thus reducing lift.

Rear bumper:
That big "hole" is a diffuser.

Rear wing:
Keeps the ass end planted. At least it looks decent, compared to the stupid ass one on the FG Falcons.

Yes, the front spoiler is the same size in all those pics as the one in the original post.

I love the Commodore/G8, and think it looks great. That kit however, is NOT rice.

Thank you for your time,
Matt.

The problem is exactly as you stated, it is for a touring car/supercar, not a street car. I don't think there is ever a reason to put that on a street car really. Leave it on the track where it actually has a purpose.

I like proposal #2 by red_racer2 for a street car. Very nice rendering.

I've seen the G8 Street Edition in person recently, great car.
