As far as the Brembo setup, I see 14" rotors with 4-piston calipers in front, and 12.76 rotors and 1-piston calipers in back. Is this really that much better than the GT setup?

The fronts are MUCH better. 1.26" bigger and 2 extra pistons. For normal driving (beating on it on the road), the stock GT brakes are more then enough. For roadcourse, the bigger brakes would be nice.

What's better, is stock GM parts that we can swap over to our GTs

The latest from Pontiac is that "Tagging" for the GXP will start in Q4 for December arrivals.

Based on that, would not expect Order Guides to be on-line until late Q3.

Pricing for 2009 G8 is to be released the week of May 19th. Do not expect the GXP pricing to be included in the release.

Mr. Sandog - Not sure if this helps or not...but the 2009 GM fleet guide was just released yesterday and it does mention bluetooth as a feature on the 2009 G8. It does say "late availability".

41 extra horespower, Brembo brakes, special wheels, upgraded interior/exterior niceties, aren't worth the extra $$$ (it won't be $10k. Figure about $5k)?

I too want to know when can I order a GXP?

The Wife found a couple sales droid cards in my visor when she drove my Bonneville the other day. She knew I had been scoping out G8's. She was shocked that I hadn't already purchased it. That was a pleasant surprise. Usually she'd have blown a head gasket at the mere thought of it.

Anyway, and word on a HUD option? I just can't believe Pontiac would let that ball drop.

I think $5k more is wishful thinking since they announced the GT for "just under 30k" and it came out 29,999 and the project manager for the GXP has announced the GXP as "just under 40k".

Yes if the difference is 5k I can justify it, if it's 10k I cannot, for that price I'd blow the GT engine and get a hell of a lot more than 41hp and 17tq.

You also forget manual transmission option, FE3 suspension, different rear gear sizes, etc. There's more to it than just power.

And FWIW, I too plan on "blowing", "stroking", or doing some serious work to mine. I'd rather start 41hp/17 ft/lbs of torque ahead from the get go.

Most people I know aren't buying the base $29,999 GT. They're adding sunroofs, sports package with the bigger wheels and summer only tires, etc, etc which pushes the price closer to $33k in the real world. If the GXP stays sub $40k, that's really a $5K - $7K difference.

The under $30k threshold is a marketing thing. Not indicative of reality.

I've heard the only options you have on the GXP is color and sunroof. Everything else is included.

Also the 2009 pricing will be released in "the near future". Think by June 6th, would be the new time frame. Still would not expect GXP pricing to be included.

From what i hear, its not going to be, but it should be included as an option. Its sad to see GM toss away a nice gimmick like that just as it starts to get popular. I was hoping to see it as an option too. Sad. :(

I kind of thought that might be it but what confused me is that they were taking order for late fourth quarter for cars to be arriving in Late December. That threw me off. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah that contest was supposed to have the winner. My guess is the winning name didn't sit too well with Pontiac so they're still pondering away. But seriously I can't ever recall a release of a car at a car show like this and not have the price and all the specs laid out. I'm at a point where I'm torn between this car and a new Camaro but price and a manual tranny will be the factor. If I can get a V-8 camaro with a six speed manual cheaper..... well sorry Pontiac.

My guess on the ST is that they are reconsidering even bringing it out in the States. It seems like EVERYTHING surrounding this vehicle has stalled.
