: Its on the way...
iceman302 10-05-2009, 11:21 PM I just ordered it today. I found a ridiculous deal on Ebay for $797 shipped. It turns out that there are a couple more necessary parts required to make it all work. Apparently, the GXP uses shorter fuel injectors so you end up needing small billet spacers for the fuel rails (+/-$100). Also, the 102MM Nick Williams throttle body that I'm planning on using runs C5 Corvette electrical connections so you need an adapter (+/-$50). The long and the short of it is that some of my great deal has been erased but at least others will know what they're up against and can weigh the costs accordingly once I have dyno numbers. The TB is expected to be in later this week or early next week so I hope to it all on the car the weekend after next. More to come as parts arrive!
UPDATE: The rest of the stuff finally showed up today. The throttle body was back ordered almost a month but its a really nice piece. The fuel injector adapters are in the box and the wiring harness is shown also. Now I just have to find time to install it!

:slap:man, you are so clever, hmmmm, i will follow this post, pls tell me the next thing:)
orangeg8 10-06-2009, 04:06 AM Glad you said that, Would have been pissed to cough up 1600 and then spent another 150 to get it to work. Would have been prinicipal of the thing not money issue of course.
Might be something I will do later on I guess.
gtodoug 10-06-2009, 09:51 PM I hope you have some great gains. I am very intrested on how it turns out.

I really don't know what to expect with my other mods. All of the testing that seems to net gains in the low to mid teens has been on stock engines. I'm crossing my fingers that my Vararam and the 102MM TB will help it breathe even better. My headers can't hurt either. We will see how the car responds.

iceman302 10-12-2009, 12:24 AM The intake should be here tomorrow. Hopefully, the TB and associated parts won't be far behind.
locrzng888 10-12-2009, 07:10 AM Sounds like an awsome setup.

iceman302 10-14-2009, 07:35 AM The intake got here yesterday afternoon. Its a nice looking piece! I'm still waiting on all the other stuff.
iceman302 10-29-2009, 06:24 PM The rest of the parts finally shipped! The intake does require using billet fuel rail spacers since the LS3 injectors are shorter than most. Also, the wiring harness is needed to get the TB blade to open in the other direction. Its based on C5 stuff and its flipped around on the GXP.
The grand total for the TB, fuel rail spacers, and wiring harness... just over $800. Ouch. I guess that's the price you pay for "pioneering". That brings the grand total right back up to the $1600 mark. If I sold my stock intake for $300, that would knock the cost down to $1300.
I know that a ported stock intake goes for about $300 with a core. Can anyone chime in on what a stock TB ported to an equal size would run? I could've gotten the cost down quite a bit if I hadn't opted for the $600 Nick Williams 102mm TB but I wanted something that would work flawlessly with the intake to give it the best chance to make power.
We should know in a matter of weeks.
stibuki 11-02-2009, 12:05 AM Nice setup. I think you are going to need a cam and a new tune to truly realize the potential. The stock LS3 manifold plenum is already of sufficient size for the mods you are running and at your current state enlarging/cleaning up the runners would provide the most gains. The throttle body is really going to enhance throttle response. I could be off but would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 18/20 RWHP and TQ increase. Will be interesting to see your results.

Agreed. I'm actually expecting a little less. I'm hoping for low teens but mid would be great. I'm fully aware that this setup is overkill for now but I'm going to do heads and cam so call it planning for the future. Livernois will update my tune for the intake and TB.

I had a sneaking suspicion that you had more planned otherwise it would have been overkill. Head work and a cam will realy wake up this combo. Sounds like a very solid plan your just doing it in the reverse steps than usual. Some rather impressive gains when all done.

I prefer to get all of the easy bolt-on supporting pieces handled and then move forward with the major surgery.
Boostpatrol 11-02-2009, 10:15 PM Thats a nice piece. However, our cars are already over throttle bodied. The computer in my car was only set to use 88% tps.

I don't know about that.
Big gains or miniscule, I'll let everyone know once its on the car and dialed.
Boostpatrol 11-02-2009, 10:33 PM Fair enough. That intake is definately good for us forced induction guys looking to go over 21 psi. The stock one breaks at that psi.

uhhhm :slap: wrong. You are seeing that in the log because of the electronic throttle body(throttle by wire). Dont believe me? Do a search.

That's pretty crazy boost!
Dan's G8 11-03-2009, 12:16 PM Let me know if you need/want a hand installing the intake manifold, Dave. Provide the beer and I'm there.

Dan, I'll hold you to that. Thanks. What's the drink of choice? I'll stock up. :drink:
iceman302 11-06-2009, 07:25 PM The last of the parts showed up today. I hope to find time in the next couple weeks to install everything.
