Any pros or cons comparing Rotofab vs K&N for 09 G8 GT? I have the K&N CAI on my Avalanche and I'm very pleased with it. Just appears a lot of folks on this board has the rotofab as opposed to K&N. Thanks-Dave

more rotofabs simply cuz it was first one out, K&N took a while to release one for the G8

yea roto-fab was widely available from the beginning.

Is the box on the K&N metal?

That would be a con IMO

Ive seen both installed on G8's - Rotofab handsdown - It is just better made and proven with good dyno #'s tuned of course.

You wont get the full benefits of a CAI unless your car in tuned.

i have the K&N on my GT and love it! and yes the box around the filter is metal. i can def. feel throttle responce and power. it also sounds amazing when you punch it!:gears:

Why would anyone use metal on an intake?

The Injen intake on my Cougar, and the Dr. Speed cold air intake on my G6 were both metal. They're not uncommon.

The metal looks pretty and nice, but they also conduct unwanted heat. I guess is some applications there is too much heat produced to utilize plastic.

I have the retro fab and like it. That said K&N is a great company and took it's time getting this out. Makes me think R&D took its time and got it right.

I have a Roto-Fab on my car and love it. Very easy to install, looks great and fully functional. The cold ari box design is superb as it is molded to fit in the factory air box location and extends into the fender well to assure you are getting cold fresh air.
