: Handheld Tuner
HardEight 05-01-2008, 10:07 AM So I was just wondering if VMS was thinking of coming up with a handheld unit like the Diablosport tuners. I have a friend with a lat model GTO and he said it made a world of difference. Also it was extremely easy to flash back to stock if he needed to take it to the dealer.
Unfortunately Diablosport doesn't make a unit for our cars yet, but after looking through their message boards, there is a suggestion area for new vehicles and the G8 was listed and one of the Admins said, "It's something we are definitely looking into". Sounds like good news but no telling how long before they actually make the blooming thing.
I guess this post is more or less just wishful thinking on my part but if anyone else has any info regarding this, feel free to reply.

the handheld units suck... You won't get the gains like you would with a VMS tune or some of the others.

Our FlashXpress is far more versatile than any handheld currently. Currently none of the handhelds even support the A6 transmission at all let alone to the level we do. Oddly enough one of the handhelds STILL doesnt support the T42 4 Speed Automatic TCM that came out in late 2004 yet so you can see how long it takes to implement something like that.
If you are worried about the ability to switch back simply jump on our "FIRSTG8" deal and get a brand new ECM tuned thats yours to keep for about the price of the ECM alone blank from the dealer.
locrzng888 05-06-2008, 03:35 PM Where is the ecm located and what else is required once you receive it? How hard is it to change? You know all that stuff. What was the cost again?
VectorMotorsports 05-06-2008, 03:46 PM Passenger side just below the fuse box, shiney silver finned box with two connectors. It's cake to change and the only other thing you have to do is get a crank learn done on the new ECM using a Tech 2 or our Dashhawk tool. Cost with the special is $499 with a brand new ECM you get to keep.
Rob Moser 05-06-2008, 04:25 PM I have it down to less than 10 minutes! Will be even faster when I get my Rotofab CAI. Stock one has to be moved to get your hands down there.

OK, so what's the deal with the crank learn? We have to buy a Dashhawk along with the ECM deal including the TCM flash for a total package?
Just seeing how much I need to save up. Will you run a package deal for all 3?

You dont have to buy the dashhawk, you can get a dealer with a Tech 2 or someone else with a scan tool to do it. If you do want a dashhawk (which we recommend to keep an eye on your tune and vehicle) we have a coupon code for that as well.
locrzng888 05-07-2008, 02:27 PM So, you have to take it to a dealer with the new ecm installed or do they scan it off the car and then you install it. I still don't quite get it. Splain it to me lucy.

Is there a way to lock into this special with you? I am waiting on an 09 GT and plan on going with the air box you used and Corsa catback exhausts and your tune. Also interested in the Dashhawk tool and the cost of the entire pkg.
How hard is it for a novice to use the tool to do the crank learn on the new ECM? And is the stock one inside the car or under the fender on the pass. side?
Feel free to reply to my e-mail with all the details, I would appreciate it. torch@gforcecable.com
Thanks, Bob

I think I can speak for everyone when I say we love the coupon codes :)
Would you guys consider a rental program for the Dashhawk if only to program the crank? The easier you make it for us the better:wink2:
HardEight 05-09-2008, 02:30 PM Bump, good question. I want the Dashhawk eventually, but It sure would be nice to have to option to buy it later while still being able to swap out the ECM.
CRF450RR 05-11-2008, 09:26 AM I asked Mike at Diablosport if they were gonna bring out a Predator for the G8.
His reply was "we are working on it"
