Waxed it with MEGUIAR'S NXT GENERATION TECH WAX 2.0. I recommend this wax! It went on easy, came off easy, and buffs really nice. Plus it smells like Skittles! :D

I'm going out this weekend and buying that stuff!

How long did it take you to do the wax portion?

You gotta get it! I started washing at 11am, and I got done at 2pm. So I guess waxing took about an hour and a half including buffing. Use a terry towel to take the wax off, then finish it with a microfiber cloth! No wax job is easy, but it beats paste which I swore by for years.

I used to use the Meguiars Gold Class paste, but it leaves lots of wax dust.

Oh yeah and just a reminder, be very carefull not to get wax on any black plastic parts, trim, etc. That's what takes the most time. It's fine on the metal trim though.

I thought you were not supposed to wax a new car for like the first year. I guess I was misinformed.

I have been using the standard NXT or NXT 1.0 for a couple of years and it's just about the best thing I've used on black vehicles. I'm sure the 2.0 is just that much better.

Try it! You won't be disappointed. For a store bought wax it's awesome. Oh and it lasts quite a while too.

I would wait two or three months from date the paint was put on before waxing. 1 year is NUTS! If you want to protect new paint use a silicon free glaze.

Looks good 888!

C'mon man stop playing your car is still wet:p

I've always used Maguiers, just started that Black gold wax acouple of years ago. I love their quick detailer, looks good when going to your local show and shine.

For any of you that haven't tried it, claying your paint makes a heck of a difference in appearance and how long the wax product lasts.

I have been claying for about 10 years now and swear by it. Take a plastic ziploc bag open it and stick your hand inside, now rub the paint and you will be amazed what it feels like. Of course this doesn't stand for NEW paint jobs.

Clay will remover water spots, over spray, industrial fall out, and any dirt stuck to the paint surface. It also does a great job of removing what I call rail dust that we get here in the salt/rust belt. It's those little spots of rust all over your car after a winter in the snow and salt.

Try it! It works and doesn't leave swirls like buffing can.:nono:

Oh and don't forget to way those wheels! Their clear coated too!

I thought you were not supposed to wax a new car for like the first year. I guess I was misinformed.

Most new factory finishes are catalyst based acrylics. Cure time is <30 days. My G8 was nearly 6 months old when I got it!! It was built 11/30 and arrived around 4/1.

You're OK to start waxing them.

Wow! Nice! I'm a Meguiars user myself as well so it'll be a no-brainer on what I will use on my G8. ;)

I also used the NXT 2.0 product, TODAY! It was a great choice, plus, it was on sale at the Loews Home Improvement store.

Smells great, and VERY EASY to take off. Here's a tip:

Buy Griot's Garage Speed Shine and spray a little on your removal cloth. The wax comes off with no problem !!
