: G8 v6 wot
Schwartz 10-16-2009, 07:32 PM Tried to upload some vids to utube but had no luck trying to figure it out.So i hope this works.
Seen alot of vids posted here with the V8's at WOT but i don't think i've seen any V6's at WOT yet so i thought i would post a few.Did this last night on the way home.Keep in mind the speed limit on these streets i was on is only 50km/h and there was traffic so i did what i could when i had an open road in front of me(safely of course). There are 4 short vids here.Sorry for the shaky camera. The first one is a launch from a stand still using the sport shift manually(i hit the record button a little late, sorry). The next 2 i'm just cruising and then stomped it to the floor. The last one is the one that blew me away.My car tapped out just before the 7 grand mark while still in first gear.I was once again using the sport shift manually. If you listen close enough you can hear the chirping sound the tranny makes when it taps out. Will post better ones another time, possibly when i'm on the highway.I heard the tach's on V8's only go to 6 grand before they tap out.Almost got mine to 7.

not got all 4. Car sounds very good. Next time get a passenger in the back seat to record...leaves you free to drive
liquidred 10-18-2009, 09:56 AM they all loaded for me the car sounds good
dal20402 10-18-2009, 12:26 PM The 3.6 is an entertaining engine with a lot of character. Nice videos.

Yup,well said:thumbsup:
zepcom 10-18-2009, 08:04 PM Nice Vids.
I should have re-read your first post a little more carefully the first time around, I had assumed the units were MPH and I was like "Wow, that V6 could really accellerate quite well up into the triple digits..." ... but then my math kicked in and I realized that 100kph = 62mph.
I agree with the other guy, get a back seat passenger to record next time so the camera and the driver can each individually perform their respective tasks with 100% focus. I have also found that it may be better to start at a expressway on-ramp to get the full 'ramp up' ... no pun intended!
Nice videos though...

Schwartz 10-20-2009, 03:33 PM Yeah but thats 100km/h still in second gear, still 3 more gears to play with.I ran out of room, need an open road.I managed to get her up to 80km/h in first gear on the last clip.
henry23_g8 10-25-2009, 01:36 PM what kind of exhaust do u have?
Sweet vids bro, I definitely love the quick acceleration in this car.
Schwartz 10-25-2009, 03:22 PM what kind of exhaust do u have?
It's all stock my friend.I think the stock exhaust sounds pretty darn good on the 6.But only at high RPM,s.Too quiet at idle.
Schwartz 10-25-2009, 03:27 PM Stock exhaust but i'm running a pretty sweet CAI
cobrakiller 10-29-2009, 07:44 PM its a v6 in a 4000 pound car..Its got to pull like a snail
dal20402 10-29-2009, 07:46 PM its a v6 in a 4000 pound car..Its got to pull like a snail
Not sure I'd describe 0-60 in the low 7s and a top speed of 140+ mph ungoverned as "like a snail"... perfectly respectable for a large sedan.

Dude, your so lame. You have no idea what this 6 can do.If it pulls like a snail then how come i haven't lost a race yet.If you got nothing nice to say than don't say anything at all.
harddrivet 10-29-2009, 10:16 PM I think the V6 moves out quick and is a fast car, it is not a drag racing car in my opinion but it could win some well planned races for cars in its segment, and I have friends that have followed me with their car when I wasnt even trying to drive fast and they said that they couldnt keep up with me and the car accelerated very fast and left them in the dust.
I have a question for you Schwartz, I am just curious as to why you did your tint as 20% rear and 50% front, I have not seen anyone do that before, its usually less tint in front and dark tint in rear. (I think I was asleep when I asked this question. ;-) )

The higher the percentage the lighter the tint. 20% is darker than 50%.I wanted to black out the back but the wife didn't want it that dark.It means 20% of light will go thru the back and 50% of light will go thru the front.Have to make sure the police officers can still see you.Nice comment by the way.NOT a drag racing car but moves well.I've even beat alot of V8's.But i'm sure i'll meet my match one day.
pontiac_fanatic 10-30-2009, 06:40 AM The V6s power all depends really on where your coming from.
I have an 89 Formula 350 that runs a 13.3 so jumping in a V6 G8 would seem kinda slow to me. It's about the same as my daily driver--a 2.4L Cobalt automatic. Car and driver got 7.5 to 60mph and 15.7 in the 1/4 mile--damn near the same as a V6 G8.
From what I know the V6 G8 does beat out the 3.5L LX cars. 7.5 or a tick under is pretty good--when you consider the weight and HP of the car.
However--anyone thinking this is a fast car and a V6 can do "lots" is a bit off the rocker. You probably came from a slower car.
I'd love a G8 but just can't get the V6--I would be bored in short order. I would have loved to get the 300HP DI 3.6L and 6 speed auto--that would have made it significantly faster.
PontiacFan 10-30-2009, 07:32 AM When I was test driving a v6 G8 i was dissopointed. I had an 05 GP non supercharged and it felt much quicker then the g8 v6. I traded GP for G8 gt. The GT feels much faster
then v6
harddrivet 10-30-2009, 08:30 AM The G8 is a 4 door sedan. So when you compare it to other "Sedans" it is fast. If you compare it to performance geared coupes it will definitely fall short. So in my line of site when I was considering this car purchase was Mazda6, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and I was also considering pre-owned BMW or Infiniti, but found the G8 was just what I wanted and I couldnt be happier.

Could be those 2 extra cylinders.
