: The V6 Launch
Schwartz 10-16-2009, 10:56 PM I'm running just a cold air intake and i'm not happy with the first few seconds on the initial launch.Debating what I should do to try and improve this. Was thinking exhaust or intake manifold.Any input would be nice. And please don't say supercharger cause i cant afford 6-7 grand.Thanks.

Schwartz 10-17-2009, 09:41 PM No tunes yet, but you should check the mecca mods thread. That should get you pointed in the right direction.
Yeah i've seen them,i wanted the headers but it seems like it won't fit the left hand drive cars.Bummer.I'm thinking about trying that intake they have but not sure how much they want to ship it here to canada. Thanks thou.:)
Schwartz 10-17-2009, 10:15 PM I just sent an e-mail for a price on that CPR intake manifold.Anybody know how much for that?It didn't say anywhere.
watson138 10-17-2009, 11:17 PM There is someone in the state of Washington looking for a V6 to use for developing a tune. They think they can get it they just need a car to test it on.

Schwartz 10-18-2009, 12:00 AM You can count me out,i live too far out.
hazer396 10-18-2009, 04:00 AM i heard theyre asking 1500 for the tune.. which gives like 20hp

There is no price for the tune possibility in Washington that I know of. The one you are talking about sounds like the powerchip tune which doesn't exist for the car, as it was a false assumption on their part that they had a previous one that would work. Here is a link to the WA tune http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23373

Looking at your signature, do you have a magnaflow system on your V6? And if so, how does it sound?
hazer396 10-19-2009, 04:07 PM yes someone please post a soundclip of a magnaflow v6
r33pwrd 10-19-2009, 04:32 PM ANY V6 owner anywhere with a laptop and access to a dyno PM me! Not sure where that 1500 dollar thing came from??? Trust me much less than that!

I've got a V6, laptop, HP Tuners Pro experience and a dyno about 30 miles away, talk to me!:)

Looks like you will be THE FIRST to have a V6 tune! PM sent!
If the tune works out I will talk with him about being a vendor on here so he can advertise and support here! (%99 positive the V6 tune will work) he is the only one in the country with this custom software he designed!

Are you Vancouver BC or WA?
Schwartz 10-20-2009, 11:22 PM Vancouver BC

You are what 2 hours from Seattle? you should make a day trip and get a tune! PM if your interested. It is very cheap for the first one ;)
TL1000R 01-20-2010, 08:05 PM So has this guy in Seattle dyno tested a V-6 G8 yet? Everyone wants to know how much of improvement this tune can make.
Hoosier G8 01-24-2010, 03:15 PM I have the tune from Trifecta and I can tell you that the difference is significant I have not had a chance to get to a dyno but I can assure you that it makes a big difference. The launch is better than stock and the noticeable "growl" is all but gone, I do have a CAI that is the only mod over stock. Again this is my opinion but I can tell you that the car is much more responsive that it was at stock and even my wife has noticed a difference as it is her daily driver.
As for the price it is $400.
Vince at Trifecta is on vacation and will not be back until the end of January. If you have any questions he is quick to answer so give him a shout when he returns.
As soon as I can get the time I will have some dyno results to post.
radkon 01-27-2010, 11:52 AM Have you noticed any change in your fuel mileage? (for better or worse?)
Derekprz 01-27-2010, 09:12 PM Will you be able to change back to the stock settings so that the dealership won't see the tune?
hazer396 01-27-2010, 09:20 PM see i would ONLY get the tune if i had money, a K&N air intake, and a really good exhaust system (borla, etc) cuz those are known to add some power
THEN i would get a tune for MAXIMUM POWER!!! but i rather save up for a V6 Alloytec S/C
then tune heheheh idk wtf im talking about
case dismissed :judge:
Hoosier G8 01-28-2010, 08:03 PM Have you noticed any change in your fuel mileage? (for better or worse?)
I can't speak to the fuel mileage as this my wife's daily driver and she only puts a couple of miles a day on. The first chance I get to take any kind of a trip I will report back.
Hoosier G8 01-28-2010, 08:09 PM Will you be able to change back to the stock settings so that the dealership won't see the tune?
You would be able to revert back to the stock tune if you purchase the EZ flash cable from Vince. He will send you a stock tune file and when you wanted to return to the dealer just re-flash the ECM with the stock tune.
EZ Flash cable orders get a $50 discount on the tune and include stock tune at no charge. The EZ Flash cable is priced at $250.

Crap so the total is now $650 for the tune and cable?

That is incorrect. Between the tune/CAI/axleback mufflers mods I did to my GT, the tune gave me the most noticeable power increase. The factory tune is lame, so you don't need a a CAI and exhaust to benefit from a tune. You will notice a greater increase in power after adding a CAI and exhaust if the motor is tuned than if it isn't.
Hoosier G8 01-29-2010, 06:38 PM Crap so the total is now $650 for the tune and cable?
Actually it would be $600 with the $50 discount. This is only if you want to be able to revert back to the original stock tune. You will find the the same issue if you use a tune supported by HP Tuners as there software is expensive also and is needed to switch between tunes. If enough people were to show interest in the V6 tune I am not sure if Vince could do a "hide a tune" feature for or engine or not. Then ther would be no need for the cable.
But as stated before if you want to play you have to pay.

Don't be giving Vince from Trifecta more stuff to do :p He still has to work on a project for me, lol.
Schwartz 05-04-2010, 01:19 PM This put a smile on my face. This morning at about 6:30,i was sitting at a red light thinking what a beautiful morning it was,sun shining and the roads nice and dry:).Then that famous line from the fast and furious came into my head.At the end of the movie when they were sitting at that red light and vin diesel looks over at paul walker and says "when the light turns green...i'm going for it".Sooo...in my case, light turned green and i smashed the pedal to the floor and to my surprise the back end of the car actually kicked out on me and i left a bit of rubber behind.I've tried this many times before and NEVER been able to do this. The only thing I could think of why it did that this time was maybe because the fuel tank was almost empty....no weight in the back end?
