I'm picking up my new G8GT on Saturday, but the car arrived today at the dealership. I asked the salesman to check with Service on any outstanding TSB's and he reported back that there was a transmission TSB out, not a recall, but to be applied only when a customer complains of sluggish transmission performance. Since they know I'm completely off the charts on everything being right and correct, they are flashing in this TSB prior to me picking up the car. Anybody know what this TSB is all about....or is this story B.S. Thanks.......

I've been doing some searching into this as there's some info on other threads but no confirmation. I just got confirmation today from a friend at GM who put my vin number into the GM database and came out with this:
REQUIRED FIELD ACTIONS
Type Number Description Posted Date Status
YT 08150 SERVICE UPDATE-INV&CUST ELECTRNC CAL INFO-REPGM ECM&TCM-EXP W/8YR/80K ECM WARR 04/23/2008 Open
It would appear the rumors are true!

I'll be finding out tomorrow morning. I hope it gives this tranny half a brain so I don't have to work the gas so much to get it to shift when I want it to.:banghead:

Apparently the TCM portion of the TSB is a misprint, according to several sources.

I replied in the other thread:

The tranny shifts are better. It doesn't seem to be as confused and they seem a bit firmer.
The main difference is in the throttle. It isn't as jumpy on tip in.

Same power, you just have to step on the gas pedal past the first 1/2" to access it.

Lonewolf, I really hope I can appreciate the transmission shifts as you have with the update. Bad weather on Saturday, so I delayed picking up my new GT until tomorrow...trading in an '06 Charger RT w/ the r&t package, which among other things has a great transmission with quick crisp shifts. Just don't want to be disappointed with the G8GT after reading all the negatives on the transmission performance. What adds to the confusion, at least for me, are the references to Vector Motorsports, and their ECM & TCM upgrades....how just doing the ECM, technically does very little/nothing for the transmission shifts. The TCM upgrades are something different. My confusion....what's the Vector commentary have to do with GM publishing a TSB on corrections to the TCM? Oh well, really want you and your experience with the TSB transmission update to be mine as well.....thanks!
