The track is open to anyone, meaning we are not renting it out. So spread the word for anyone that is interested in joining up. The more the merrier.
This is the time to see what numbers you guys can put down :)
If you have any questions about this event, please post up. ANYTHING!
Gerald (new guy from LA), this is the event. Bring the wife out too in her Mustang convertible.
Last thing. If the weather decides to rain on our parade, then obviously the track will be closed. Instead we can just hang out like our usual meets.
Ok. Now for the folks that have never ran down a track. Please correct me if I am wrong or elaborate on my comments as you wish. If there is a thread on any of the items below, please post a link.
1) I believe if you are racing a vehicle, you will need to wear pants and close toed shoes. Someone confirm.
2) If you think your car is in the 13-sec range(GXP/GT) a helmet is required. Someone confirm. If you do not know, tell us what you will be driving - I believe we can guesstimate for you ;) If you don't have a helmet and you are in the 13-sec range, then they will eventually tell you can no longer run for the night. Not sure of IHRA rules when you are in the 12's, please ask if you are concerned...lol.
3) If you are wanting to know what times your car can put down, then reaction time is a don't care. The timer does not start until your car rolls off the line - so let the other guy take off first if you are easily distracted or intimidated. If you are bracket racing, then reaction times will count. I believe there is a link for bracket racing around here - check it out and ask questions if you have. I will see if they will allow a private G8 bracket racing for some type of prize ;)
4) I believe you can not avoid the water-box at LMP, so roll through it and do a small burnout to get the water off(ie floor it and let the tires spin for a little bit).
5) Drive forward until you trigger the staging lights. Once both lights are luminated you are staged. Take off anytime after the light turns green, this is where you can let the other guy go first if you are just wanting to know what your car can do against the clock. If you are bracket racing, or racing against the other car, then you want to take off just before the light turns green - please look for bracket racing instructions on what I mean here. Could someone point us to a nice thread?
Again, please post if you have questions - don't be shy. Try and find some videos of drag racing to get an idea. Could someone post some links here?
Most importantly, you are responsible for your vehicle and yourself, and no one can be held accountable but yourself.
