Carfax only shows what is reported to them. A service department can look up work performed at a dealership. I try to check out at least these two before I buy used.

Good luck

Thanks. I plan on going to the service dept after I see how the carfax looks. When you see some one with a truck that a 2003 with 24,000 miles it does throw up a red flag for me. People don't understand that there is a way to turn off the digital part of the speedometer

There is a way to do it, but from what I understand, very few people have the ability to do it.

The easier option is usually buying a new or used cluster that has less miles on it.

Seeing as how you are in FL, Carfax is probably going to be worthless if that car is from FL.

Sorry. What I meant was because FL doesn't have the annual emissions inspections and what not, the odometers are never checked unless it goes to the dealership.

My car's last reading was 13K 3 years ago when I registered it. It has 53K on it now, but Carfax shows the last odometer reading at 13K, 3 years ago. It also doesn't know about either accident for whatever reason, but we won't go there.
