: What sizes for the staggered look?

I know the 19's are 8" wide with a +48 offset. I have no plans on lowering the car so can I go with 8.5" on the fronts and 9.5" on the rears? Do I stay with the stock offset with these wider rims?

TIA.

That's what I went with. I'll let you know tomorrow ;)

Look around on Tirerack.com, they have lot's of wheels that size with different offsets that work.

The front wheels should be near the factory +48mm offset. The rear should be between +45 & +55mm to be fairly safe. Anything lower or higher in offset could be the start of some trouble.

According to TireRack.com, for the rears you can be in the 39-40mm range and roughly the same for the fronts. I can only assume they're right since they test fitted them.

The smaller offsets will put your wheel and tire closer to the fender. The good thing about Tire Rack is they guarantee fitment. So +39 or +40 will put you a little closer to the fender, but there will be no issues.

My 19's are +35 on the front (8.5") and the rears are +45 (9.5"). They tuck up pretty well. Most of the front are 8.5 and not 8".

So far, I only know of one G8 that has been in their store. How many different wheels with different offsets they tried I don't know. The offsets I wrote should allow for the wheels to be bigger with less chances of rubbing anything.

If they guarantee the fitments they show, then it would be their fault if you order something & they don't fit once you recieve them. It's hard to find a company offering a guarantee on wheels.

I don't think they actually bolt on every wheel, but use this mocked-up thing that moves offsets etc. (like a fake wheel with a moving center is the way it was explained to me). But I don't know for sure.

We do CAD drawings of the wheel wells for caliper size and extension, position of the suspension componenets, fenderlip extention, etc etc. and feed all that into the computer to cross reference the wheels we have in order to guarantee the fit. Normally unless the car has been lowered more than 1.5" (or GM made a running change without putting out a service bulletin) we can guarantee anything you see listed for the car. Offset can vary based on the design and thickness of the wheel and its spokes.

Nice to know it was my car that was modeled.

Thanks for the explaination!

I know of that tool. It's expensive for a small dealer to buy, but Tire Rack could easily justify one.

That's some seriously technical stuff right there. :err:
