Hey whats up everyone?? I'm new to the forum but i've had my G8 GT (black/black leather, 3M Color Stable 20% tint, ClearShield Paint Protection front-end protection, 460 miles!) for just over a month now. Previous car was a 03 Infinity G35.
My question is this: Has anyone noticed a a weird whine, almost an engine noise type whine? I get it when i hit about 70 mph and you can only hear it when you hit the accelerator. I think I'm gonna have my local dealer check it out.

I hear it only in first gear when starting to move after a stop sign or red light. I was told it's nothing to worry about. I have yet to go 70 mph in the car however. I have about 240 miles on it and I bought it a week ago

IF u dont have the radio on or anything, its quite obvious and a bit annoying!!

I have 3k on mine, and only have the transmission whine in 1st gear.

IVE GOT THAT!! I was wondering what it is aswel! its around 70 and its like a high pitch whineing!! like you said only when you press the gas.

Mine was making a small whine-like noise on start up. I stood there wishing I had a supercharger in the car.

2700mi and I haven't noticed it. I can hear the DoD but I haven't heard any whining.:err:

nope haven't gone 70 yet and the whine I hear is not that obvious. It may be different if it is that obvious. I didn't hit 600 miles and your not supposed to go over 68 mph before break-in

Yes that's the whine I get. Everybody seems to have it and the cars are working fine so i doubt it's anything to worry about

Ever hear some of those race cars with a LOT of whine, when they don't have a supercharger? That would be the gearbox. :D

Not saying this is the same thing, because it's not, but a transmission WILL have a little bit of whine to it no matter who makes it. Just the gears and such doing their thing.

Now, if it was a whine that was coupled with the car running rough, then that would make me nervous. :secret:

I just finished the first trip from Arizona to California and back and I heard the whine also. At first almost sounded like a radio noise turned the radio off and it was a little louder. Sounded more engine than transmission but, it did not seem to hurt performance or driveability. Have 1200 miles on it now and mileage on the trip back at 70-75mph was around 24.5 mpg. Should get better after some more miles and a CAI, tune and exhaust work ( I hope)

I haven't noticed this sound and I drive ~ 70mph regularly.

Had mine since march (4500 miles) and just went to Houston from DFW and back this weekend...set cruise at 75...never heard a peep. It was almost TOO quiet. Car ran great.

it's the gearbox. Many do it, many don't. Doesn't affect performance or anything. Just a sound.
