I have had no problems with my Pontiac G8.

Just wanted to state this.

Thanks to Pontiac and GM for making a great car that I am enjoying daily.:patriot:

Owned it one year today and has exactly 13000 miles. Couple check engine lights from loose gas cap, but no real problems here either.

I just hit 35,000 miles on mine, and with the addition of a rebuilt transmission shes running great!

I feel there are some lemons with any car manufacturer, thats to be expected, but if you treat your car well, it will treat you well.

Duffman - You had to rebuild your transmission pre-35k miles? No offense, but how does that qualify as 'running great?'

LOL a transmission is kind of major, but could have been the holeshots. :wink2:

23k and have had her for about 19 months. Still running very strong with exactly ZERO complaints about quality. Still drives as straight and smooth as the day I got her.

Looks like I'll need to replace the brakes in the next month or so, but that is to be expected.

If I could find a G8 GT with no collapsed bushings, no steering shake, replaced CV boots, good LCAs, no warped rotors, no rear main seal leak and no transmission line boom then I would buy it in a second. Dead serious. I haven't found one yet, although I am still looking.

About to roll 19,000. Only problem is I can't keep tread on the back tires, but i don;t think that is the car's fault. I LOVE my car.

Hi Steve, Why do you want a GT if you have a brand new Infiniti? I was looking at Infiniti's before I decided to get a G8, but I have a friend with a Infiniti G35, it looks awesome but he has had nothing but problems with it, its always in the shop not sure why, and the repairs are expensive and keep him broke, so, many times he has to ride with me in my Pontiac G8 because my car is never in the shop, only for Mobil 1 oil changes and once I brought it in for new wipers :wink2:

I miss the car, and am convincing the wife to drive the G8 in addition to the minivan, which has been paid off for sometime - the G37's been issue-free in the 6-months I've owned it - a few weird panel vibrations, but that is it, which I find occur in cars at all price points. So it's been essentially perfect, but the torque of the v-8 is calling me back. But I need to find a good representative of the G8 family that can be bought **new** problem free (or at least initially), and I haven't found it yet.

Edit: I driven about 6 so far...and since they are the last of the last, their quality may skew towards poor for good reason (leftover or passed by for a reason)...

I may have to give up on the G8 and get a 2006 AMG c55, or a 2007-08 AMG C63.

Steve, no rear main leaks (I keep checking!) no bang from the transmission (?) no warped rotors, no steering wheel shake, CV boots not an issue (?), and according to GM the bushings "settle in". Basicly you can lift the front of my car and they don't drop thats how I know they're not collapsed.

The only issue I had with mine was half the 3rd brake light going out which was replaced under warrenty. Other then that mine's been a great car also!

Well then Jackalope, you need to sell me your car! :) In retrospect, my G8's biggest issue was the steering shake, but I had dealt with so many little problems, and I kept foreseeing possible big problems in the future, that I panicked. And that was pretty stupid.

But keeping in the spirit of the OP's posts, when I look back on it, my car had none of the big issues that would make it undriveable. My bushing were fine, I had no warped rotors, no leaks , no AC issues, no engine problems, no tranny problems, etc.

IMHO, my G37 is a much more precision-engineered package with a beautiful interior. But it is NOT anywhere as much FUN to drive, and if you don't absolutely depend on the car to get you from a to b, isn't that the point?

The only problem I've had was an alternator that I had to wait on the kangaroo to swim here from down under with. Oh, and my discount tire card being maxed out from rear tire purchases, that sucks!!

I have had 17k trouble free miles on my 09.1 G8 GT too, only thing replaced was the center window switch due to a backlight was dead, and a rattle in the rear right passenger door.

Steveua, too bad you had such misfortune with your G8 experience. But any G35-37 CANNOT be called a bad choice IMHO! I LOVE the looks of those cars, included the 350Z.

Just came back from a spirited drive on Virginia back roads and was about to post my own "I love my car!" thread. The faster you go, the smaller and more agile it drives. I'm finally getting the hang of rev-matching with our slowish throttle, and I had a blast.

Steve, those cars are out there, although by now they may be lightly used. My car has not shown *any* of the issues you mention in about 5200 miles.

My 2008 V6 is almost to 42,000 miles and the only problem so far was a check engine light for an emission valve replacement thing. Part only cost about $20 but since I bought the car with the GM Certified warranty it was covered. We're getting about 25mpg and it rides like a dream, not to mention all the stares and thumbs ups

well, hopefully I can find a deal on one that is okey-doke. Like my G37 a lot, but loved the G8's V-8. Maybe I just need a good dyno tune. Throttle tip in sucks.
