This happened to me today:
I was in sport mode. Began accelerating all out from 20 mph to 90 mph to merge with traffic. Hit 90, let off and the transmission, which was in S3, held third gear for five or six seconds at 4000 rpm before is shifted into 4th then into 5th, dropping rpms back to 2000 or so. Seemed odd that the transmission would hold 3rd gear for so long after I let off the gas, with the engine at 4000 rpm.
Anyone else have this happen?

Probably put you in the abuse mode. Mine does all kinds of weird ****. Shift it at 5500 and it will go all the way to 6000 and shut down. F----d up. I just had my update done, don't think it help a bit.

It supposed to do that. You don't want the car shifting when you're coming into a corner hard and letting off the gas. Not weird, standard procedure... Allows you to come out of the corner hard.

My FX does the same thing. Makes it nice that way if you get on it and then back off and punch it again if doesnt try to shift on you.

"Performance Algorithm Shifting (PAS) -- PAS is a transmission algorithm that looks at lateral acceleration, throttle, and vehicle deceleration activity to determine if the vehicle is being driven in a competitive manner. If the algorithm recognizes these conditions, it can force downshifts and hold lower gears for optimized vehicle performance.
Performance Algorithm Lift Foot (PAL) -- PAL minimizes upshifts during closed throttle driving and cornering to prevent unnecessary shifting."
