: Build Sheet

Hey all. I have a question about the build sheet, if your G8 still had it inside (mine was just chilling in the center console).

In the upper left hand corner there is a date, in the upper right there is a time, and in huge numbers on the right hand side below the time there is a "General Assembly Ser", guessing general assembly serial number. Just curious if this is the actual production number in sequence and build date/time.

(Just for reference's sake my date/time/number are 11/01/08 -- being January 11, not November 1 -- 19:50:31, and 2953).

If any 888 owners have the build sheet this can pretty much confirm it for sure. Maybe.

Nobody knows what I'm talking about? Or does nobody have their sheet? I feel like I'm asking a completely idiotic question and nobody wants to dignify me with a response or something.

I took a picture of the build sheet. Easier than explaining it.

My guess is that nobody else has this sheet and they (holden factory) forgot to pull it out and file it before it's venture stateside. The dealer would probably make you pay more for the car with that in it. That's a good find though. I could only wish for mine to come with it.

I have the same build sheet for both my GT and my GXP. Very cool thing to have when it comes time to sell the car years from now. I have an old 1971 GTO and also have the original build sheet for it. Pontiac used to put them on top of the gas tank and then sometimes there was a second one under the rear seat or inside one of the door panels. I specifically told my dealer to hang on to it when my IOM 08 GT arrived at the dealership (I have photos of it laying in the back seat before they took all the shipping wrappers off of the car.) I also asked for it when the SBM 09 GXP was delivered.

The ones the dealer will print for you just don't compare. I've also kept all the stickers and part number lables that were on the undercarriage.

Wow that's pretty cool, wouldn't be surprised if some dealers just throw them away.

^ You are right, most get thrown out during PDI. I would kill to have mine.

I will try to scan mine for the two G8s - they are fairly large (15" X 11" like greenbar computer paper) and my scanner is not large enough to accomodate that size. My copier won't reduce them well enought that a scan would then be readable - so I may just have to take a photo like OP did. Actually, I got two copies of the one for my GT. They are still joined together, so apparently the factory printed at least two for each vehicle. They were laying in the rear floor when it arrived at the dealership. I saw the car setting in the new arrival area on a Saturday morning and it was the only Ignition Orange car in the lot and I knew it was the one I had ordered. So I went in to let them know it was mine and determine when I could pick it up. They got the keys out of the overnight drop box (left there by the transport truck driver when he unloaded during the previous night) and opened the car up for me so I could see it. It was covered with plastic and all sorts of protective wrappers. When I saw the buildsheets, I told them under no circumstances were they to be discarded. I took a bunch of pictures while they found a box and made a note to the PDI guys to put everything in the box and give to me.

Here are photos of the build sheet and the original dealer invoice for my 71 GTO.

It's too bad the dealers don't just put them in the glove box for us anal owners who want to keep everything related to our cars!

Does the 2953 Indicate that your car was the 2,953 car to go through the line?

Also if you look on the Certificate of Origin (if you still have it or made a copy), does it have 2953 next to the GM symbol at top center of the document?

Thread starter hasn't posted since 10/09, so doubt you will get a response from him.
