Street Tuner 05-06-2008, 04:14 PM Congratulations for the driving (plus the smart FI purchasing) along with the WA Performance Centre crew for turning Rods HSV G8 into the quickest and fastest Street Trim G8 in the world....

11.5 @ 123mph through the stock M6 setup and on the stock 20 inch G8 tyres is incredible going, and is surely a benchmark that will take some beating, considering the weight of these cars when in full street trim
Some Specs -
Stock LS2 engine
Gen-TT VE Intercooled Twin Turbo system
Twin 3 inch exhaust system
MAF 92 octane tune
Stock gears
Stock fuel pump
Stock wheels/tyres
3/4 tank of fuel
Who says these cars dont have potential!

veritasatis 05-06-2008, 04:24 PM Nice numbers, but it is a stretch to call it a G8 as we never got the LS2 and currently do not get the M6.
Atlas 05-06-2008, 04:56 PM that is not a g8 in any sense of the word... plus mine will beat that w/o f/i...:secret:
SOcaliG8 05-06-2008, 08:03 PM i think Haddad's g8 will give that car a run for its money...
granatelli 05-07-2008, 09:56 AM By the way, the 20 inch "tyres" are not stock either... they're 19 in the US.
haddadmotorsports 05-07-2008, 02:26 PM hey guys play nice 11.5's is a very respectable #.
However you are correct. It is not a G8.
I don't think my car is faster than that yet.
But if you give me all of 3 weeks I'll go ahead and beat that for you.
I mean its not like they had 2 years to develop the car over in Australia.
Whats up with 2 months.
Stay tunned for track #'s
aint no way I'm gona let the Ausies take this one.
Thanks
Mike Haddad
SOcaliG8 05-07-2008, 02:36 PM Hey whats up mike?
Just wanna say thanks again for showing me your shop/car...
hows it going over there at borla? have they givin you any updates?
Street Tuner 05-07-2008, 03:13 PM I think you guys missed the point, running low 11s on the factory tyres was the key here
If you want to play the slicks/stripped game there are already G8 L98 6 litre engined Commodores running in the 10s with only a camshaft (apparently!)

I think everyone got the point, but they were pointing out, this isn't a G8. The largest wheels we can get from the factory are 19's. But I don't think grip is the problem. We have a completely different drive train than that car. So the post is pretty irrelevant.
Put twin turbos on a real G8 and it will run too.

Its this real G8 enough for you?
L98 six litre, A6 transmission....built in exactly the same plant as the cars you guys have. Fastest A6 in Aus

With stock stall converter and stock 2.92 gears its hard to get these big trucks moving...but this G8 didnt go too bad on radials

IXLR8 05-08-2008, 05:55 PM Very respectable numbers! I know you are not looking at the tach as you cross the line, but do you have any idea where you were? I estimate around 4900 rpm in 4th gear. Does that sound right? If so, you are just getting into peak hp territory, maybe a lower density altitude could give you a few more tenths...
asylum 05-08-2008, 09:47 PM the grey R8 in the photo is actually running 19" rims, not the 20's

Yes, the engine rpm was just below 5000rpm in fourth gear so you are spot on the money. With more transmission programming parameters, and a better density altitude this car could run an easy 10....alas we are some 500miles away from the closest track.... :slap:
