Hey Steve, how's it goin?

My GTP has been garaged for most of the past year and a half... one too many tickets and I can't afford to insure 2 vehicles now. I might get it out for a few months this summer... I do miss it.

I also own a 1995 Firehawk coupe and a 2002 Firehawk convertible which come out of storage yesterday :driving:

Nice cars, I wonder if one of you were the first to get one in Ontario.

I do have a question for you both, how much up or down did you pay on the MSRP?

iverson003
07-17-2008, 11:03 PM
Payed down from MSRP approx. 1100.00..hard to get a great deal with such a new car.

Yaladorn
07-17-2008, 11:52 PM
I agree with Iverson, quite hard to get the dealers to budge due to high demand and low supply. I managed to get about 1k off with a cash deal, and an offer for 50% off an extended warranty if I buy it within 30 days of when I took delivery of the car. Haven't decided if I'm going to go that way yet.

I've heard rumours that other GTA dealers are selling above MSRP, and at best are dealing down to MSRP but not below, but I've not heard that first hand from a dealer. Wouldn't surprise me though... and might be worse when the GXP's come out.

Canadian GP
07-18-2008, 12:20 PM
I have a personal friend who is a GM leasing manager, I'm sure he will get me the best price he can. IMHO $1100 off the MSRP is a pretty good deal.

iverson003
07-18-2008, 12:54 PM
Yeah i know...but i still wish i had another 500 off...the usual markup from their purchase price is from 3 to 6 %...so with my deal i payed around 7.5%...but yeah...hard to get a better deal at this time...but what the hell...brand new car sometimes u just have to take it..plus...these rides are a beast...lol...and yeah i have a feeling that i was the if not one of the first to have it in Ontario...the dealership in guelph just called me the other day to tell me they just got a few in..hell i've had mine since june 30th now..haha.

I saw yours a couple weekends ago. Pulled into a buddy's apartment complex a to pick him up in my silver '04 GP GTP, and saw a couple police cars first, but my attention went right to you after. Your car's on my cellphone background, and has been there since that day. ;)

Well, I got to ride in Yaladorn's today. More leg and head room by a long few inches in each direction compared to the GTP. Being 6'5" myself, that's important, too. My knees being crammed up against the dash in my GTP has a nasty squeak worked into it now...

Now I need to miraculously double my wage to justify it.

hood vent is functional as a heat extractor, but its NOT a ram are thing, as the vents are located in a negitive pressure zone on the hood.

Hello fellow Canadians! Just found this forum and pleased I did. I'm from the Niagara Region of Ontario and I'm seriously thinking about buying a G8 GT from a local dealer. I'm curious though as to why the base model offers more colours than the GT model. I prefer the Magnetic Gray Metallic colour but everytime I build a car on the Pontiac site this colour is not offered for some reason. Anybody know which colours are definitively offered for the GT model? Thanks in advance!:driving:

Hello fellow Canadians! Just found this forum and pleased I did. I'm from the Niagara Region of Ontario and I'm seriously thinking about buying a G8 GT from a local dealer.

Welcome to the Canadian section. I live in Niagara On The Lake, which dealership are you dealing with?

I'm curious though as to why the base model offers more colours than the GT model. I prefer the Magnetic Gray Metallic colour but everytime I build a car on the Pontiac site this colour is not offered for some reason. Anybody know which colours are definitively offered for the GT model? Thanks in advance!:driving:

I was going to try building a grey one on the GM.ca website but the POS is not working properly. I've done it many times in the past and the only colours you can't get a GT in are the 2 blues. :whine:

Thanks for the welcome GP, I'm dealing with:
CENTRAL MOTORS (PELHAM) LTD.
227 HIGHWAY #20 EAST
FONTHILL, ON L0S1E6

The only colours that have ever come up for me are... Panther Black Metallic, Liquid Red, Sport Red Metallic, Maverick Silver Metallic, and White Hot. Frustrating to say the least.

I'll be a SOB, the site is working now and there is no grey for the GT. That makes 3 colours you can't get the GT in. What the hell is wrong with GM Canada?

I drove through Canada as a short cut home this summer from New York. My G8 turned a few heads and started some conversations when I stopped for gas and dinner. We are very interested in establishing Certified Pedders Dealers in Canada. The best way for us to find the really good Dealers is to ask enthusiasts like you. So what are the BEST, the most CUSTOMER FREINDLY shops in Canada?

do they need to have there own websites, ie not a little local installer.. but rather someone that can handle large sales numbers?

also, if you get a Toronto Base shop, I'd be willing to be there test mule :drink:

We can teach a dealer how to use the internet and how to put on our parts the Pedders way. We cannot change the shop culture towards customer service. So Customer Satisfaction in the #1 criteria.

#2 They should love working on performance upgrades.

#3 Being a Pontiac enthusiast would be a plus, but the same would be true for the Chrysler LX.

Thank you for asking!

Peter from Waterdown, Ontario checking in here. Just picked up my Magnetic Gray Metallic G8 GT a week ago. I have an '01 Magnetic Red Corvette Coupe so the Magnetic Gray seemed like a good fit. :)

Bought this to get me through withdrawal during the winter and to replace the G6 I had. Love the car so far, just wish it had a stick. I look forward to meeting up with some of the local members here eventually. Already have a couple of my Vette buddies looking at the G8 as well.

Yes all winter, the secret is to take OFF traction control. This way you can rock it back and forth. I got stuck once, but then again there were FWD's and trucks getting stuck at that time. Next winter I think maybe some CDN TIRE winter beater tires. Not sure how the tire pressure monitor will like it though.

The price on your deal might seem a little high but that is total cost as you dont have to spend any money for borrowing. In the end it will almost even out to someone that took the 6500$ cash back and is paying someone interest over the term.

I think you did pretty good. Mine would have been 39500 if I took the GMAC financing and I have a 1SD. So about the same.

Hello all, yet another G8 GT owner from Red Deer, AB. I picked up the dealer's demo unit - got it for just over $28k. :) It had 8800km on it but came with warranty as new, so I was happy with the deal. One of my best friends picked up a G37 and spent $54k on his - so I spent half as much and can still beat him off the line and all the way down the track. :)

VERY happy with my G8, but it is about to be de-badged. I'm actually going to replace every one of the badges with the Holden and VE badging. I just wish it had the same front end as the VE does....

I'm looking forward to meeting any other G8 owners! I'm thinking with all the people on this board alone, maybe we should have a G8 meet here in Red Deer. Invite all the folks from Cowtown and Edmonton, and do a G8 Show & Shine. Anyone interested?
