: my 2008 SS - V
08SSV 11-10-2009, 03:59 AM Hi guys. Thought I would show you all my take on the Holden SS - V. Have removed the holden badges and replaced them all with Chev badges (The holden ones were too big compared to previous models) Put my own take on the factory track stripes (had them made wider and longer) lowered the suspension and fitted HSV GTS wheels. Also had custom OTR built by local performance shop who also did exhaust and Mafless tune as well. Have also fitted GXP rear diffuser but have not got any photos of that yet. (was not an easy swap over either. the bars look the same but the diffuser fits completely different. had to widen slots in bar etc etc) Hope you enjoy. Cheers

mongosG8 11-10-2009, 04:18 AM Looks great! So not used to seeing Chevy badges..LOL!!
Stripes do look good. I like the color combo..very subtle!
Nice ride!
95ImpalaSS407TT 11-10-2009, 04:38 AM Awesome, Exactly how mine should look like, a Chevy just like it was supposed to be.
trgore 11-10-2009, 06:07 AM looks good, I love the silver stripes with that paint color
Back in a Pontiac 11-10-2009, 01:59 PM forgive what may be a silly question- but what exactly makes the car a SSV?
BrandonG777 11-10-2009, 02:48 PM forgive what may be a silly question- but what exactly makes the car a SSV?
Holden made it an SSV. That is a Holden Commodore not a Pontiac G8. SS-V is equivalent to the G8 GTs, whereas GTS is comparable to the GXP.
Underneath they are the same cars, made on the same assembly lines, with slightly different badging, grill and various trim pieces.
jackalope 11-10-2009, 02:51 PM Looks great! Love your stripes.

ok then I dont have to feel silly with my SSV emblem on my car then.
I wanted just the red V, but they are on back order, so I ended up getting a SSV for the trunk, glad I did because I think it looks great back there. I know I had seen those cars with the SSV but I was not sure exactly what made it a SSV.

I just have the red V on mine and get a TON of questions/comments about it. I thought about doing the SSs on the rear doors and trunk but the whole Chevy/Pontiac SS would make people think I'm trying to make my Pontiac a fake SS instead of the other way around (an SS-V being a fake ass Pontiac ;)
Back in a Pontiac 11-10-2009, 05:00 PM I just did a single SSV, not SSV on one side and SS on the other or on the doors.
And the V8s on the fenders
I would have done just a single V, but again it was backordered and I wanted something back there.
Christiancoach 11-12-2009, 11:11 AM Car looks awesome! Badged as a Chevy you need to add the Lumina emblem! I am viisting South Africa and have seen a few running around. It is hilarious to me, because all I can think of when I think Lumina is my mom's 1990 Lumina.
mjposner 11-12-2009, 03:25 PM Don't forget they put the wheel on the otherside too.
SilverFox 11-27-2009, 02:22 PM car looks great !!!

hey mate, would love to see pics of the process, i know the guys on here that have fitted them required a little bit of cutting in the bumper to get it fitted properly, but the G8 bumper is slightly longer than the holden version, wasn't sure if that would have made it harder again.

Dont have any photos of the process sorry. I was too busy shouting at the car to take any. Have some new photos of the car now though. Will post them below. It pretty much went straight onto the bar. I just had to lengthen some of the slots in the bar and trim a small amount of the bar away near the exhaust. All parts that are not visible when the diffuser was on. Was simple enough, Just time consuming.
Have since fitted a HDT (Holden dealer team) VE retro bonnet scoop and striped it to match the bonnet. Loved the bonnet vents on the G8's ever since I first saw them. Was very jealous of you guys. When HDT started selling this I had to get one.

Big thanks to everyone who made comments. Its good to know that no matter where you go in the world there are always car mad people that you can get along with.
BigV8 02-12-2010, 09:57 AM I love the rims with the lowered car. Very nice job!
95ImpalaSS407TT 02-12-2010, 10:27 AM Love the Scoop, I'ma have to find a way to get a hold of one...
mitchogaard 02-12-2010, 11:54 AM I really love the car, 08SSV! The color scheme and everything really flows! Great job on all your work. I hope to make it down under one of these years! I actually really want a set of these wheels! I think they look really great without being over the top.

BlueG8GT 02-12-2010, 03:01 PM The car looks awesome. The rims and color combo really make it stand out. But what I'm most jealous of is the chevrolet symbol on the grill. If only the US. got an SS version. Maybe in the future.
steveua 02-12-2010, 03:48 PM you know, I priced a brand-new Holden one of those the other day on an Aussie car-buying site, and it came out to 73,000 dollars australian. I think that's around 50-something K US? Jesu christos!!!!
cbudweiser 02-12-2010, 04:15 PM sharp looking car!
MIEngineer 02-13-2010, 03:43 PM Those wheels look like they have been chromed or is that still the factory HSV finish?
Are those replicas or real HSV wheels?
Car looks great!
American Commodore 02-14-2010, 02:05 PM The car looks good, I like the bonnet scoop. Gives it a little more aggressive look.
08SSV 02-15-2010, 03:53 AM I really love the car, 08SSV! The color scheme and everything really flows! Great job on all your work. I hope to make it down under one of these years! I actually really want a set of these wheels! I think they look really great without being over the top.

Thanks for the comments. E Bay Australia have actually now got replica wheels of the E2 GTS wheels. A place in Melbourne, Victoria is selling them. It does not take too long for replicas to start appearing.

Car looks great!
They are shadow chrome. They are replicas. I could not justify the cost of the real ones. I've used replicas before as well and never had any problem with them. Thanks for the comments.
BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE COMMENTS. MUCH APPRECIATED.
purple_power 02-15-2010, 06:03 AM That's a very nice looking car. The stripes really make it stand out. Where abouts in Sydney are you? Just the general area, I'm not looking to stalk you or your car. :)
Mr. Bueno 02-15-2010, 09:40 AM Can you send us some slave cylinders?
That is our pains as M6 guys.

themanran2000 02-15-2010, 11:02 AM looks good, something unique is awsome
cozbyrt 03-06-2010, 02:42 PM Awesome looking car! I sure hope chevy brings over something similar looking in a couple of years.
Poncho09 03-06-2010, 04:08 PM Awesome, Exactly how mine should look like, a Chevy just like it was supposed to be.
These would be the stripes I had in mind when I suggested black with dark grey stipes for yours, maybe a little closer to the edge of the hood in the front. :wink2:
Poncho09 03-06-2010, 04:15 PM ... and by the way 08SSV the car does look awsome and Blue is my favorite color. Chevy should seriously consider bringing this car to the US, but I doubt it because it would possibly eat a big chunk of Camaro sales.
harddrivet 03-06-2010, 09:01 PM That looks great, we need them in USA FTW !
