mtstew23 05-06-2008, 10:18 PM Hey all, new here and was curious if you could let me know if I am getting offered a decent price?
New
G8 GT
w/ Premium, Sunroof, All seasons
4 Week delivery time
for:
30,561
I was told this was invoice minus loyalty cash.
Thanks,
Matt
Small Dealer 05-06-2008, 10:25 PM The current GM Purchase Loyalty Program is scheduled to end on May 21st, which is two weeks out.
Keep that in mind.
MissNaySimon 05-07-2008, 03:26 PM That's the price we paid for ours. But, we didn't walk out with the sunroof. However, ours was from Military Discounts and 1000 rebate. We were Ford people.
_G8GT_ 05-07-2008, 03:30 PM Id go for it, Maybe you could knock off about 500 if you tried but your not being riped off.
Urthman 05-08-2008, 02:28 PM Take it.

I paid under $29,000 for the same car. Included dealer discount, $1000 loyalty, $1000 GM card and a $500 "coupon".
G8>550i 05-08-2008, 03:49 PM I am assuming that you are talking vehicle price before tax, licenses.
G8>550i 05-08-2008, 03:51 PM One thing for sure, that isn't the invoice price. An invoice price of 31,561 on 32,275 car? NO way.
YOu got offered an OK deal, not great
chiefpontiac 05-08-2008, 03:55 PM 32295 is msrp of that combination. 30561 is $734 off plus the $1000 loyalty discount. Anything less than msrp is a deal on these cars. Sure guys ar epaying less, and some idots are still paying $5000 over. A good deal, and if you can lock it in at that price regardless of expiration of layalty - or in addition to, if program is extended. See your problem is that even though the dealer might have the VIN, and take your cas if a cash deal; if the car is not physically in your hands by end of business on 5/21 you lose $1000. (unless they guarantee your price, or extend teh program)
Dryheat 05-08-2008, 08:38 PM Invoice on a fully loaded G8 is only ~900 under MSRP. Look it up!

You got bad intel. I have looked it up. (www.edmunds.com) The car in question in this thread, msrp of 32295 has an invoice of 30440, a difference of $1855. A fully loaded GT, msrp of 32745 has an invoice of 30813, difference of $1932. The $1000 loyalty bonus might be confusing you. It does not lower the selling price, but instead acts as a rebate or cash toward down payment for those needing a boost in credit.

Yes the car in question has an Edmunds.com invoice of $30,440.
Unfortunately, Edmunds.com doesn't build or sell any G8s.
So just keep in mind what Edmunds.com says about their site, something along the lines of "Edmunds.com does not provide acurate invoice prices", give or take a word or two. They find it hard and complicated to do it accurately, so they do not bother.
In the world you will find the invoice cost of this car most often north of $31,200, higher in New Jersey ($31,300+).
:wink2:
Dryheat 05-08-2008, 11:35 PM My bad. You are correct. My MSRP was 31845 and invoice was 30543. Difference of 1302.
MissNaySimon 05-09-2008, 12:54 AM 1302 is like.. 15 full tanks of gas!
buzzard31581 05-09-2008, 07:43 AM Out of curiosity, if you're financing it, what kind of APR are they giving you over how many months?

You mean edmunds and the other sites don't have a dealer of each brand on the take, providing confidential info, that if found out could cause loss of their franchise? (proprietary info release) Now you are suggesting they make it up? :slap: That's so,so un-American :judge:
During the big screw the dealers give everyone employee pricing events Ford went so far as to put what they claimed was invoice on their web site. So you could build a car or search inventory and it returned 3 prices - msrp, invoice, and ep. Aren't you glad that's long gone, SD?

Thanks all for all the thoughts, after reading your comments I believe the dealer may have interchanged loyalty with coupon as I remember him taking off 500 and not 1000 as y'all have mentioned. This makes sense since I don't have a GM. At the time I thought he may have been giving me the "loyalty" as a courtesy to the business my family has provided in the past... who knows.
To answer your question, about 6% for 60 Months :/ ... the company car allowance is only $500 and I really don't want to drive a taurus. The MP comes out to below 500 after my trade/ DP.
Thanks for all your help guys!
Matt
buzzard31581 05-12-2008, 09:08 AM The reason I asked about the APR was because I went to make a deal myself this weekend.
First the 'salesman' (I use the term loosely as he was just a kid and think he was just responsible for taking information and filling out paperwork) tried to sell it to me for MSRP. Then he tried to get me with an 8.5% APR. I laughed in his face, stood up and started walking for the door. Just then he yelled out for his financial guy to come over and talk to me. The finance guy said the best he could do was 7.5% through GMAC since I was a "first time buyer."
I told him being a "first time buyer" shouldn't have anything to do with the interest rate they give me when my credit is spotless and I have a rating that's almost 800. I told him I could get a rate of 4-5% from my bank and if he could match it he could have my business, otherwise I was walking out the door and going some place that was willing to deal.
Well, he said he couldn't do it so I walked out the door and told him I'd go find another dealer somewhere else. As this was the first dealer I talked to, I'm not too worried about finding one that's willing to work with me. I've already got the the blank loan check in hand from the bank. I can use it or tear it up. The way I see it, I can either pay the bank or pay the dealership the interest. It's up to them if they want to make a little extra money or not. Either way, it makes no difference to me.

OK - I am confused here.
If you have the loan check in hand
( that is typically how I buy )
what difference does the GMAC APR make?
- Ray
Don't get it......
buzzard31581 05-12-2008, 11:27 AM Because if they can give me a better APR than the bank, I'll take it. There's more than one dealer in my area so I'm going to go to all of them and try to get a better deal before I settle for what I have from the bank.
Why settle for what you have if you can get a better price?

OK.
The reason I ask is that with typical new car rates ( for those with good credit ) close to 5%, even going down a half percent from there - to 4.5% only saves about $7.00/mo. [ edit: on a full $30,000 ]
Not worth the drive time ( or gas ) for me to look any further.
And I’d be amazed to see anything below 5% from GMAC anytime soon – except for some sort of incentive rate.
Good luck!
Hope you find what you want!
- Ray
NOT a first time buyer . . .
