Nice write up. I have my STi mounted in the same place. I mounted my remote mute switch in the center cubby.

FYI you can tap into the rearview mirror hardness to get ignition 12v for a radar without running a wire to the fusebox

thats what i did. i rigged up some pins like those belltronic pins. I hook two U ended connectors and clipped off one side on each one, cut the cig lighter charger off of my Cobra, and hooked up the connectors, plugged them into the harness of the mirror. they popped in nicely. pretty ghetto, but works perfect, ideal power source and location, no running of wires.

I know the power one is pink.blue back there. idk how i remember that , but i do.

I used the invisicord and blendmount to install my Valentine V1 radar detector to my rearview mirror. The blendmount connects it directly to the rearview mirror stem and the invisicord plugs into the harness on the back of the mirror.

While the invisicord is a nice "easy" product (assuming the pin never falls out), I just pulled the tape back, found the right wire, cut and soldered. Free.

Also, the blendmount looks sturdy but its bulky looking and advertises you have a radar. I'd take that down anywhere I parked every night even in a good nieghborhood. Using the suction cups on the "dots" right at the top tint line, nobody can see my radar and I leave it up almost all the time without worrying about getting a window busted (and I live in NYC area).

I wanted to do the same thing with my V1 all though I do not know what to use to plug them in the back of the mirror. What are U ended connectors? I have no idea, but I would like to know so I can get some and make my own as well.

BTW, when I ordered the BentMount, I got the discount and on top of the original discount, I got 10% and he took care of the tax for being military so if you served or have serve, call them and mention than and you will get it even cheaper.

I used the stock cord and cut it to length and stripped the wires. Then a simple switched power and ground soldered into the mirror wires and done. I used the pinout from the forum.

I can solder, but I really don't think I want to solder in the back of the mirror. I want to be able to remove it easily if I ever need to do so. What pinout are you referring to?
