h3llphyre 05-07-2008, 05:39 PM Any way you can post pics of the car with the wheels on it. Funny, I was thinking about buying those tires for next spring, for my summer tires, and the stock 18's as my winters.
_G8GT_ 05-07-2008, 05:51 PM lol would be cool to have summer and winter wheels. shame its sunny 356 here in cali.
GETGONE 05-07-2008, 06:06 PM Where did you pick those up and what did they set you back? I'm gonna have to get a set in a few months.

Did you get those wheels cheap (ASA) or did you already have them?
I have to buy new winter tyres for the GTi next season mine are pretty bald. I don't plan on trading my Golf in when I buy the G8, instead just use it as a winter/ work vehicle.

Tirerack sells them. That color is on clearance for REALLY cheap. $160 a pop.
These are ASA AR1 wheels. I don't think they are on clearance at Tire Rack. Other ASA wheels in other finishes and sizes are but the 18" black are normally $160. I have the Sport Package 19" for summer and these 18" for winter.
h3llphyre 05-07-2008, 07:08 PM Sorry. 19" chromes are on clearance for $199. My bad. I was looking at all of them the other day, got mixed up.

Still thats quite expensive for winter wheels compared to steelies selling for ~$20. Your riding in style though.

Um... Pretty sure 18" steelies aren't $20, if you can even find them. As far as I've read here, 17's won't clear the brakes.

You forgot that ~ which means approximate so give or take some $$.
But yeah I was just searching for 18" steel wheels they are expensive.
We get 2-4 winter events here. The rest of the time it is pretty clear. The tires were a gift from a friend who is moving to SC and doesn't think he needs them. They only have one season on them. i figured i could afford to splurge a little on the wheels.
h3llphyre 05-07-2008, 08:01 PM Haha... I love in New England. We get, well, a lot of "winter events". I will be running Blizzaks next winter. Just not sure on the wheel config yet.
appletonrc 05-07-2008, 08:50 PM Now that I finally have a G8, winter wheels are going to be a summer purchase.

I had Blizzaks on my V6 Camry last Winter.
I'll have Blizzaks for this Beast come fall.
;)
isszy 05-09-2008, 12:55 AM Good luck finding steelies for $20 that fit. Holden have stopped fitting steel wheels even to the poverty pack Commodore Omega, so you would need to start looking at BMW wheels.
GETGONE 05-09-2008, 11:22 AM On Tire Rack's site they list 17" wheels as fitting the G8 GT in the snow wheel and tire packages.
TireDoc 05-09-2008, 11:41 AM Yep, we need to "downsize" to 17" to get the more agressive tread patterns like the Blizzak WS. Keep in mind that chrome or wheels with a machined lip (like the wheels at the start of the thread) have little or no clear coat on them, so they can be prone to pitting / peeling if not kept VERY clean in the winter months.
Attorneyguy 05-09-2008, 12:53 PM Anyone going with 19 inch winter tires? How do they compare with the 18s?
GETGONE 05-09-2008, 12:55 PM I only see Dunlop snows in 19" size for our cars on Tire Rack. Not sure if more will be added this fall or not. I'm debating on getting new wheels for summer and using the stockers for snow tires.
