Hey guys, just wondering if anybody here has experienced a slight burning odor coming from the engine bay after running your g8. Is this normal or am I just freaking out...:eek2:

How many miles on her? Usually there is a slight burning smell from the exhaust when it's new and possibly under the hood as well. Have you been caning it or driving responsibly?

Yeah I've been driving pretty responsibly except for a few times :) but she has 146miles just got her yesterday:). The smell does seem to have gone away gradually... Thanks for the insight though

My car had the burning smells for almost 500 miles. I'm now at 2500 they're all gone.

Yeah I figured during the initial break in there would be some burning smells

I didn't want to start a new thread, but going along with the engine bay smell.
I had my G8 on a lift today, and I have a small oil leak on the side of the oil pan where the sensor is plugged in. The side of the pan had a small spread of oil. And slightly to the back of it.
There are NO drips.

Just coming up on 2000 miles and I still get it after I flog it awhile. Might be a small gasket leak somewhere, but it's garaged every night and no oil spots on the floor.

Hi all, any new updates on this item? This is the only thread I found so help me out if you will. I have around 4K miles and the smell is real bad... No oil leaks that I can see.

Mine started at 10k and is still there at 12k. Dealer can't find a leak. I'm leaning towards brake pads. It doesn't smell like oil or coolant. I did change oil to RP right before it started, but I did the same to my truck and there's no smell. And it DOES have a leak!

MAN i SWEAR , I am at 23,000 mile and I still smill burn after hard runing ..

its not because its new ..

but also its ok . ..

My "smell" vanished after about 500 miles.

Maybe it was the shower.

Mine smells like plastic burning after driving. i only have about 200 miles on her. Seem to be worse if you get on it more.

My G8 started to smell of burning engine oil yesterday. It smells like there is a leak somewhere and engine oil is burning. I checked the oil level cold, and it seems to be okay. It has slightly over 1000 miles.

Any advice??? Thanks.
