Hi i've had my G8 GT for about a month now with 1100 miles on it, fairly broken in, with an oil change at 500mi and another one coming.
My question is, is anyone else experiencing like a click, or 'chunk' noise right after they start the car and go from park to d because I am. It doesn't do it if i say turn it off and go to 7-11 and come back, but if it sits for a while it does it. It basically just does it once per startup per say...8hr period because it will do it inbetween a shift at work. How do I describe that to the person at the dealer shop or is this a normalcy with this trans..

I think what your hearing is, according to GM, "the ABS unit runs diagnostic routines as soon as the vehicle reaches 15 km/h (9 mph). Some customer's may find the valve noise objectionable."
Again, I think this is what's happening. It has been a prevalent noise in the Acadia and Enclave.
Per GM,"Some customers may comment on excessive ABS initialization noise, which may be mistaken as front suspension noise. In addition, customer's of 2008 model year vehicles may comment on traction control sensitivity"
Ask your dealer if document 07-05-25-005 applies to your VIN.
I noticed it on my G8 as well.

Yeah, with a V8 under the hood, I hear this more often then I'd like, when taking low speed corners. It sounds REALLY bad, then I look at the DIC and notice that the ESC is active and say to myself "Nevermind".
qwik rls, that sounds about like the sound i'm referring to. it's about 1-2 seconds after i start rolling in D i hear the click from the front of the car. Thank you this puts me at ease though.
Thanks to all you were all helpful
