I picked up my GT this morning in liquid red. Its very sharp. :driving: However I have two potential problems. I want to make sure I'm not over looking something before heading back out to the dealer.

1. Remote start does not work. I've enabled the feature in the DIC. I've locked the doors with the remote, and held down the start button for 4 to 5 seconds...and NOTHING. No starty.

2. There is no horn/chirp when remote locking the doors. The lights do flash, but no chirp of the horn. This feature is also ENABLED in the DIC. (The horn does work when pressing on the steering wheel)

Any one else seen either of these problems, or give me some pointers how to get these things to work.

I'd look at your fuses. Beyond that, I've got nothing.

Take it back to the dealer, they should have checked all that stuff to make sure it worked. The dealer will not want pontiac to know they didn't test the systems before it went out. They want you to give the a perfect rating on the survey you will receive and they should be glad to fix any issues you have.

Push the lock button 2 times and then try and start it!

:iagree:

Also, mine only chirps if I hit the lock button more than the twice needed for the remote start feature.

you have to hit the start button IMMEDIATELY after hitting the lock button. I thought the same thing when I tried using it. As for the horn not working when you push it....I'd bring it back to the dealer for that.

Make sure you're really holding down the remote start button. Single push of the locks, press hard and hold. The trunk button is hard to activate as well.

A remote start will not occur if there has been any CEL's. A lot of times, a faulty hood switch sensor can cause the remote to be inoperable.

Thanks for all the responses. Got it figured out. TWO hits of the lock button are required to make it chrip, and like Blackdevil said, you have to hit the start button IMMEDIATELY after hitting lock.

I thought mine was broken also. took a few times to learn to hit Remote Start right after locking. It is a handy tool. I use every morning when I leave for work.

I had to bust out the owners manual to figure out how to get remote start to work. We saw the dealer do it, but couldn't figure it out on our own. Sigh.

I always double lock the car. Old habits.

I always lock my car, so I guess the lock before remote start is considered the 2nd lock. Being that I've never had to hit the lock twice to remote start.

I started the car up at my friends apartment last night from her balcony - and some guy and his wife were walking by. They were totally shocked and confused when the car started and no one was in it. So, as I walked out to the G8 and hit unlock and the lights flashed, they looked at me like I was nuts. "Sorry, remote start." They proceeded to ask me what kind of car I was driving. "Oh, it's the new Pontiac G8 GT. I mean, no one really NEEDS a 360 horsepower family sedan, but why the hell not, right?"
