: Have you seen your Holden Sticker????
GTXgp 05-11-2008, 01:43 PM Was detailing the car today (see seperate post) and noticed the manufacturer door jam sticker. Well, started looking at it and I noticed some cool things:

Notice the "Mfd by GM Holden" and the Holden Logo on the top right?
I thought that was kinda cool! :)

Attorneyguy 05-11-2008, 01:45 PM No kangaroo or koala stickers?
GTXgp 05-11-2008, 02:11 PM I would have expected it to say Pontiac with a Pontiac logo.... I just think that is a neat detail that it still says Holden with the Holden Logo.
Josh@ARH 05-11-2008, 03:57 PM Im pretty sure my GTO says the same thing.
sccaGTO 05-11-2008, 05:17 PM Im pretty sure my GTO says the same thing.
It has Holden's name but not the logo.
GTPprix 05-11-2008, 05:25 PM Yeah I thought my GTO's had that too, I better go look at my 06 LOL Still cool though Adam ;)
GTXgp 05-11-2008, 08:20 PM Why ?
Pontiac didn't make or manufacture anything on the car.
Well, the sticker is only for US Production since it is referring to US Safety standards. I figured they would have tweaked it for US Production and not left Holden on there.
Believe me, I'm proud that it is a Holden, I just think it is neat that they left the name and logo on there.
locrzng888 05-11-2008, 08:52 PM Well gm definetly did the ls2. Those to my are all manufactured here in the good ol usa. However, that may be it. The camaro is gonna be built in canada.
Smtkd 05-11-2008, 09:23 PM Just to clarify with you all. Is not L76 in fact a LS2 engine just an updated 4th generation version thats been de-tuned for the US? I thought I read that somewhere on a webpage that shows the various V8 engines used by GM!
Found it! Here it shows that the L76 "is" a LS2 but detuned to support AFM feature which Holden has not activated!
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com/features/0707gm_pontiac_g8/index.html
LDV60 05-11-2008, 09:42 PM Actually the L76 is shown to be a progression from the LS2, with similar bore and stroke.
The L76 as used in the previous models of the Commodore had the AFM deactivated, which is clearly not the case now for the G8.
The L98 is the Aus Domestic Market engine used in the Commodores which is a variant of the L76, which has the AFM hardware removed.
What I find quite strange is that the Commodore/G8 range comes with 5 engine variants and 4 transmission variants. 3 V8s. (L76, L98 and LS3 (recently replacing the LS2) and 2 V6s. (a high output and standard output variants.) Also the 4, 5 and 6 speed automatics and the 6 speed manual/stick shift.
asylum 05-11-2008, 10:47 PM who wants to play a game called find all the barcodes? :D i know where a few of em are hidden!
need4spd 05-11-2008, 11:19 PM It has Holden's name but not the logo.Look in the upper right corner of the sticker for the logo, it is there in the photo above.
sccaGTO 05-12-2008, 05:38 AM Look in the upper right corner of the sticker for the logo, it is there in the photo above.
If you read my post again, I was referring to the GTO. No one posted a pic of the GTO sticker.
need4spd 05-12-2008, 09:41 AM If you read my post again, I was referring to the GTO. No one posted a pic of the GTO sticker.Sorry, I stand corrected.
jsalbre 05-13-2008, 12:33 AM The L76 has an LS2 engine block and thats it.
(snip)
Actually, they don't share a block either. The L76 has a .3 inch smaller bore than the LS2 (101.3mm vs 101.6mm.) I know that's a tiny difference, but it is a diference none the less.
isszy 05-13-2008, 01:25 AM Why ?
Pontiac didn't make or manufacture anything on the car.
I read a report that Pontiac did not even show an interest in the car until after they had driven a Holden VE Commodore. This probably explains why sat nav and satellite radio and similar systems with specific USA features did not make it into the Pontiac G8 design.
If you are referring to the Wheels interview with Tony Hyde, I raised this point some time ago.
http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1685
Hyde's claim was refuted by rlsedition who was part of the development team. It seems that GMNA were involved at the start, then lost interest, then made a last minute decision to go with the G8. I suspect Wheels paraphrased Hyde.
G8>550i 05-13-2008, 11:31 AM They made the arrowhead badges...let's be fair with the credit

Thank you Miss for that bit of info. :gr_jest:
theun4gven 05-21-2008, 08:41 AM It's pretty easy to find quite a few more things like this. Pop the hood and read some of the hoses.
dhessco 05-21-2008, 09:55 PM that is cool! Mine was manufactured 01/08 as well
TriShield 05-25-2008, 10:36 PM Im pretty sure my GTO says the same thing.
There are Holden logos all those cars if you look for them, especially on interior parts and misc paperwork.
