I'm having my g8 checked on a dyno next Saturday. We are doing it on a Mustang dyno. My guy says the Mustang puts more load on the engine and it won't show as high a reading as the dynojet. He said typically on the mustang that the readings are 75% of the rated hp. The Dynojet is about 80% or a little higher. That appears to be about what I've seen from vms and new era. I'm assuming theirs are dyojets, but, not for sure. Can any of the dynojet guys chime in on this. What should I expect. Doing 3 runs, 1 stock two with my new CAI.

I know VMS uses a Mustang Dyno.

Hey, thats good to know. I can compare my CAI to the ROto more accurately then. I hope mine will come close to theirs. Those are very good numbers and with the tune it was awsome. I'd be glad to do 90% of theirs, but, I believe I'll be very close in hp and torque. If not, I'll have to do a little more work. Mine won't be enclosed, but, it is tucked down in the fender and should still see pretty good numbers.

Mustang dyno's can be manipulated to read what ever the dyno operator wants it to . A proper set up Mustang should read lower than a Dynojet .

The Mustang dyno is better/easier to tune on b/c the loads the car like it would on the street .

"What should I expect" a increase hopefully

We will find out 9am Saturday morning. Temps in the low 70's with low humidity. I'll have the stolenfox h-pipe and my cold air intake. Stock intake with h-pipe, I'd bet around 295-300. With my intake, I'd guess around 315 at the rear wheels. These guys won't manipulate the Mustang, I know them very well. I might be off on my numbers, but, maybe close. Friday night I'll be at Ozark dragway for some fun runs. Maybe upper to mid 13's I hope. Temps in the mid to upper 60's. This should be a breeze to drive compared to my 9 second Nova that I had in my early days. Might even still cut a good light, however, I used to run a pro tree most of the time, tall tree is totally different. I ran Pro Gas back in the day and it was all pro tree in NHRA. Well lets just see how close I am to my numbers.

good luck. I'm attending a dyno day this Saturday as well but it's a dynojet. I am trying to put together and intake for my car but having trouble sourcing the tubing parts. Regardless its still being thrown on the dyno.

I have seen Mustang Dynos read 10% lower then a Dyno Jet and I have seen them read indentical numbers. It depends on how the parameters are set up on the Mustang Dyno.

Exactly , the operator has the ability to alter parameters to change the dyno numbers on a mustang dyno , a dynojet dyno can not do this , which is why they are more consistant for testing results . However , a mustang dyno applies load to the roller , and when the correct amount of load is applied , it can be a more accurate tuning tool , but this is more so important in a power adder car in my opinion , which is why everytime I tune a turbo or supercharged car on my dynojet , I will take it for a ride on the street after and verify it , 9 times out of 10 it is right on , but in a heavy car with a turbo , sometimes you will make another pound of boost on the street which will alter the tune .

Didn't get to run the g8 last night and had to canel the dyno pulls this morning. Will reschedule in a couple of weeks. Will update then.
