Ok guys and gals, let's start collecting info on known bolt ons for our G8's.

I want to gather a few parts, since I have a bit of time until my G8 is drivable. :(
http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2729

I have a New Era Performance CAI on my car now.
http://www.neweraperformanceparts.com/default.asp?S=503&A=E&PKV=neg8gt|0

I have a Roto-Fab on the way, want to see which one is better.
http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2147

I have the VMS ECM tune.
http://www.vectormotorsports.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=39&Itemid=28

I have a Magna-Flow 2.5" cat back system on the way.
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=AMML&id=4274

I understand an Under Drive Pulley kit might be worth the money, the same with an electric waterpump. Which ones?

How about rockers? NEP has Yella-Terra 1.7's, SLP has 1.85's. I have no idea what set is best for our cams.

What do we say?

Has anyone figured out if we can do this with AFM?

I would leave the rockers alone. The amount of power gained is not worth the cash spent or being worried about what might go wrong with them.

I say just stick a magnacharger or APS kit on it and be done. :wink2:

I was just wondering if anyone had posted these yet. Thanks for the links!!! I'm getting my G8 this week and the CAI (one of them, not sure which yet) and magna-flow cat-back are two mods that I will most definitely do.

Apparently vhato has both CAI's and posted his observations here (http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2741). It's an excellent read and I'd recommend it for everyone considering either the Roto-Fab or the New Era Performance CAI's. I would imagine that he'll also be posting his dyno and track data if/when he gets it.

P.S. I read your post about the deer earlier...sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you're alright and the deer got what he deserved. :)

I had a pulley on my LS1 and it was a good bang for the buck mod. The engine reved much quicker with the ASP crank pulley. Probably worth 5 to 10 rwhp. I wouldn't do the rockers or electric water pump. I'm anxious for a good set of long tube headers. I gained alot power with these throughout the power band. A good torque converter like Yank products would be on my list if I wasn't concerened with mpg hit. If you do a converter the car will need to be tuned by someone who really knows what they're doing.

Does it come with any kind of bolts? If so, then sure. :) (but not really)

I have never been a fan of them. I am sure they work well, but I just think they look funny on cars. Trucks and SUV's can pull it off, just not on a car. The prices aren't too bad though on that site. I want the red/black shifter to match my interior.

Well, go for it! They will need the $ as I am not messing with the bug deflector.

Bugs got a right to go splat too. :p

I'm looking for an UD pulley to install.

Exhaust and intake are also on the list as well as dyno runs as the icing on the cake. lol

Just need to find the UDP now... anyone?

EDIT: Call NEP for the pulley!

I ordered one of these for my white hot. I hope that it fills in the ridiculously massive hood gap. I have a hard time visualizing things. I could see it looking really stupid too. I should know next week.

I'm looking for an UD pulley to install and I will probably go with the cooler stat as well. Although the last time I did that it made the vehicle take FOREVER to pump out hot air. Hmm...

There is another thread on this board, but I can't remember which forum, that had links to several UD pulleys.

I'm going to try to find it.

From another Thread:

After much research I have found for sure that the balancer/pulley assmembly is the same as a 2007 LS2 vette. both have factory part#s of 12598831.

I just ordered this one:

http://www.speedinc.com/cont.cfm?cid=C0000598

"SLP Underdrive Pulley
SLP's new 25% underdrive balancer for LS1/LS6/LS2 Corvette's"

I'm still thinking about the elec water pump.

Wow $549 for the pump, not a good bang for the buck IMO. You're entering N20 kit range at that price.

Let us know how the pulleys work.

I just came from a 2001 Mustang GT and in that world, I think pullies are a complete waste of time and money. I'm not saying they are worth nothing for the GM V8s, but if anything all they do is lessen the wear on accessories for the relative few occassions where you are running up high on the tach. If the G8 GT was a manual, then I'd also say it helps the car rev quicker. That's about it. For the time/effort and money, 5 hp isn't worth it. Put that money towards some Mickey Thompsons instead.

I actually had Steeda's UDPs on my stang and at least for these motors, I'd never do it again. Waste of time.

Again, not saying it's not worth it for GM's V8s but I'd like to see multiple dynoes showing an honest gain before I ever put them on my G8. I'm highly suspicous of anyone who advertises 10 rwhp from pullies alone.

Bolt ons are so funny on certain cars. ..I started at 224 rwhp on my stang and if I added up the hp gains claimed by all my bolt-on mfgs I would have been at 280 rwhp! I was actually at about 250 rwhp!

I have the pullies in stock for $179.95 , and yes they do make a difference . You can order them here www.neweraperformanceparts.com .

I tested it on Friday in between tuning other cars , so I only got to do a couple pulls on the dyno but here is the graph . Peak hp stayed the same , but after 5300 rpms it was 5-10 rwhp which you can see in the graph , and below 5000 rpms it was a gain of 3-5 rwtq and hp . The crank pulley is also the harmonic balancer on the newer gm cars , and having a better balanced piece alone can free up hp up top as you can see here , on top of the slower accesory drive .

Install takes about 1 hour or little less .

Must be the 4.6s. We put aluminum underdrives on our 5.0 Mustang and they made a HUGE difference, moreso than any other modification (other than the catbacks).

I was never a fan of the electric waterpump idea, mainly because they didn't use to guarantee them. At least now you get roughly a 3 year guarantee on the street version.

Aside from that, believe it or not, it makes a difference. Enough for the money? Depends on what your goals are. I'd definitely use it on a superhcarged application, free up parastic belt loss. And I'd use it for a N/A setup as well, motor will spin up faster.
