: 3M Paint Protection/Wrap and Wax
SRG963 05-14-2008, 08:08 PM So, to apply the paint wrap you strip the wax off. When you goto wax again, do you see a difference? I've never gotten this applied to my car and want all the info available.
Thanks for any help:)
Gpdan 05-14-2008, 11:36 PM On my car, the applier stripped all the wax off the car where the bra was going to go. After the installation, i rewaxed the car and put the Plexus onto the bra itself. There is no color difference at all on my car. The only way you can tell there is a bra on the car is by the fine line where the bra ends.
SRG963 05-15-2008, 08:39 AM Just got back from dropping of my car at Sun Stoppers. Quoted over $1600 for a front end wrap/paint protection. It covers the entire hood, front fenders, and front bumper.
I think i'll hold off on that till I can just do the hood. As of now, the hood is part of the package which included the front fenders. The bumper was $350 by itself.
MavenZ 05-15-2008, 09:10 AM I am looking to get one of these installed on mine in the next week with the tint job. Can one of you who has it done post a couple pictures so that we can see what it looks like applied? Everyone I talk too that has used these swears by them, but I have yet to see one on a vehicle (unless they are just that hard to spot).
Thanks!
VENOM 05-15-2008, 09:48 AM Im just going to strap hunks of metal to my car and drive around. basically turn it into a tank.
tdeck1 05-15-2008, 10:40 AM I own a tint shop and have been installing this product for about 6 years. I dont use 3M, I use a product called Clearshield from Bekaert. Its clearer and better overall in my opinion. We have a computer plotter that cuts our vehicle specific patterns. This eliminates excessive cutting on your paint. I waited 3 weeks before I did my G8 because a pattern was not available, and recieved about 2 or 3 chips. But I now have complete coverage, including windshield pillars, doorhandles, and top of rear bumper. Its barely noticeable and only gets more noticeable when then car is dirty.(only completely anal customers complain)
1600 dollars???Wow. Thats pretty steep. My shop charges about 450.00 to 550.00 for a deluxe package.
But whoever does the install for you, make sure they know what they are doing, and have a good reputation for not just tint, but clearbra as well. Not all good tinters are good clearbra installers.

I agree. I got my front bumper, fenders, hood, air scoops, and door handles for only $545. It is worth the money.

tdeck1 05-17-2008, 09:13 AM I own a shop in New Mexico.
If you guys want to protect your investment (G8 especially) This is one of the best things you can apply toyour , and or cars.
We do about 10 to 12 Clearshield applications a week.
BBBBGXP 05-17-2008, 11:45 PM Know of any reputable dealers in the Seattle area that do the application?
tdeck1 05-18-2008, 02:38 PM I'll talk to my rep and see what names he can get me for your area.
