What is the most miles you have gone on a single tank of gas. I do 70 miles a day, 60 of them are highway and was lookin to fill up once a week. It would be 350 miles a week just going to work. So, what is the most anyone has gotten on a full tank? Anyone hit 400?

my dic said i could go 424 miles or something like that. the more flat the road, the better MPG you'll get.

I suspect I'm reporting low mileage to people, because where I live, its a constant uphill drive.

If the tank is 19 gallon, you need to average 21.05 MPG.

Looking at my gas consumption over 2200 miles so far, I could get 400 miles per tank but I'd probably be coasting when I reach 401!

353 with 2 gallons left in the tank.

On my trip to the valley I had right at 403 miles on the trip. Filled up with 15.695 gallons for $56.49 @ $3.599/gallon in Edinburg, TX.

I was averaging 23mpg, and can't remember exactly but DIC reported around 430-450 mile before empty.

I thought we just did this. Anyway, I'm currently at 380 miles, but I'm sure the low fuel warning will come on next start. When I fill up, I'll update.

Wow, and you still had 2 gallons safely to use. Thats very good because at $70 to fill up, once a week is good enough for me. Thats great. I plan on just hoppin on the highway, set it to cruise at like 68. I cant wait to take it to the track though for Pontiac Day at Raceway Park. I took second place last year in my dads 1995 Grand Am hahah I beat GTO's, Trans Am's and Solstices

you guys must be on the highway alot.like,ALWAYS 'cause I usaully fill up about 16.5 gallons and get just under 300 miles. setting the cruise control at 70-75 will get me 22/23 mpg but I just cant keep that up here on the island...

Off the subject, but just back from a 280mi round trip over the Cascades (4200ft) to wenatchee and back. Ave. MPG 23.5. Must be that VMS ECM tune.

Every MPH over 65 reduces your gas mileage. My dad has a 1995 Grand Am GT. He drove to work 1 week doing 70 mph and got 29 MPG. He drove the next week doing 65 MPH and got 30.4 MPG. He then drove 60 MPH and got 31.5. The car is rated at 29 on the highway. That being said, I feel once your on the highway, doing 70mph or 65 mph is a matter or gettin somewhere 5 min faster and its not worth it. Slower you go, more time you get to spend inside your car :) Well see what I get when I pick mine up and do about 65-68mph on the highway 5 days a week.

I really do think with a CAI and exhaust, it should get your another 1 - 2 MPG allowing the engine to breath more, but thats just my opinion. Prob wont do anything lol

With a 19 gallon tank and 26mpg from the Magnacharged thread ( http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1337 )

you would be looking at +/- 500 miles on a tank, if it was all highway.

Amazing for ~ 450 hp/tq

Im also willing to bet that with the right tune and fuel you could pull it off N/A too.

Its all about how you drive, where you drive, terrain, weather, fuel, fuel grade, fuel quality, and ethanol content if any.

I read that this thing is reported to have a 19 gallon tank, but I've taken it to bone drive twice now and the most I've ever filled up with is a little over 16 gallons.

Currently just above half a tank and have 197 miles driven thus far. We'll see what happens...

I filled up this morning when the low fuel warning came on.
Final tally. 388 miles.
320 all interstate. 26.1 mpg.
last 68 all in town DIC showed 24.7
used 15.43 gallons to fill. Calculated is 25.1 mpg.

Thats very impressive. Last thing I wanted to do was fill up 2 times a week and pay $400 a month in gas alone. Seems promising considering I will not beat the **** out of this car

What sort of speeds were you driving during the
highway portion?
Able to hold steady speeds = light traffic?
Just curious...

I remember the discussion about mileage a few weeks back.
I had my cruise set at 71 heading south on 71 till I got to the 270 bypass in Columbus. 65 to 70 during that 16 mile run to 70 west. It was actually 26.7 at this point. About 40 miles East of Dayton there is a long mild upgrade. I just left it at 71 and watch it go down to 25.1 then when I got into Indiana it got back to 26.1 and stayed there the rest of the ride home North of Indy.

There was no traffic to slow me down except for the 270 bypass.

In my 17 gallon tank the most i've filled is about 13-14 gallons. This is from the gas light coming on.

So makes sense to me that it's about the same really in the G8.

I think car companies have gotten really conservative lately (there must have been a case on this where someone ran out of gas) where the low gas light comes on really early, all our current cars have 2 to 3 gallons when the light comes on.

Well, I guess someone is just going to have to run their car completely out of gas so we can find out how big the tank is. :drink:

Pull a Seinfeld and get a test drive car and just drive and drive until it runs out. Then leave it on the side of the road with the salesmen in it.

My dashhawk said there was 17 percent fuel left when the low fuel light came on. Gages are notoriously inaccurate however.

I am willing to bet the tank is ~ 19 gallons if it was bone bone dry to the point where the car would not even run, but since most people don't get it down to that there will always be a little sitting in there...

PLUS it could depend on the shape of the tank and if there are any air bubbles stuck in there, or how you are parked when you fill, etc.

Well, I picked up the car up today. During my trip keeping it at 65 mph for about 60 miles, the cars highest reading was 488 miles to go before empty. The car is still above 3/4 a tank!!!!! If you read the window sticker, it says "highway, between 22-29." If you drive a lot of highway, I dont see any reason you cant get 27 miles per gallon which would be awesome. I was really surprised that the car got such amazing gas mileage.

Nice, so under the right conditions on the highway one could possibly pull off ~ 500-600 miles on a tank.

I've yet to hit 400 on a tank of gas, and I do a lot of interstate driving. I live North of Indy, and my office is in Mason, OH. 600 miles on a tank will not happen. IMHO

yea I don't think 500 or even 600 would work hahaha but 450 might. Right now I am 200 on the odometer and half a tank left. i had to do a little city driving yesterday so that hurt it. TRUST ME! If you do 65-70 mph on the highway for a good amount of time, you can easily do over 400 on a single tank. Going WOT from stop light to stop light will not help. Easy on the peddle and cruise on the highway, I am hoping for 425 every fill up. I drive 70 miles round trip a day, about 10 of them are city. So, even at a half, the DIC is telling me i can go 257 when on the highway. It did drop to 187 when I got off the highway.

On a trip to New Smyrna Beach Fla. from Atlanta I averaged a little over 29mpg at 70-75mph in my GP GT. My brother averaged 18mpg in his V8 Durango. I would think on an extended highway trip you could get 29 out of the G8 GT.

Best mpg I saw on straight and level with the wind at my back was 25mpg at 75 mph. Maintained that for ~120mi on cruise control. I was at 410 miles on that tank before I decided to gas up. Took 16.6 gals to fill it.

One thing to watch out for with the range calculations on this car. It reads great until about half tank and then it starts dropping quickly. Probably has something to do with the shape of the gas tank.

The other issue to your gas mileage is the amount of times the car is started cold. Mine uses quite a bit of fuel when it's cold. I do tons of long distance driving. Cleveland from my home is 330 miles. The best I've done is 388 to the fuel warning light.

filled up the other day. fuel light was on for good 20 miles. $62 to fill up. 340 miles on single tank. That was with some city driving. Unfortuantly, the road to my work after i get off the highway is about 5 miles. Too bad there is a traffic light every 100ft so that KILLS my MPG. Unlike highway where at 65 it's at 25mpg. I hit the city and the range drops by almost 100

The car is rated at 29 on the highway.

that is not universally true...my 01 cobra, driving between Louisville, KY, and STL (287 miles) every weekend, averaged ~25 MPG at 65, and ~28 MPG at 75...this has been duplicated on MANY 4.6 DOHC mustangs...also, my GP gets just as good mileage at 80 as it does at 70 on the hwy...
