: G8 GT runs with Vector tune :)
Very dissapointed... I took her to an 1/8 mile track out here by Omaha and could only muster 9.2's with 2.2's for 60's all night around 78-79mph... and that was with Vectors tune!!! Temp started out at 78 and dropped to 68 by my last pass...
I tried everything... tire pressure, sport mode vs standard, left the cover off the engine (Damn that traps alot of heat!) even ran 4 runs with 100 octane and still... CRAP!!!
Don't get me wrong... it's still a nice package but I expected at least 8's out of her which would put me in the 13's
I did have a good time though... I beat an LS1 Z28, C5, LT1 Z28, a Built up Dodge Dakota and a BMW!!! It's a damn good thing I'm a killer on the tree or I'd be smoked by half of them.
I had a good freind loan me his ET Streets and i was going to use them until I found out that a 16" rim won't fit over the brake caliper!
Oh, Well... this is my DD and I have my Z28 for my fun car it's just dissapointing to have what you thought was a 13 sec car turn out to be a mid 14 sec car.:(
Atlas 05-17-2008, 01:17 PM what was the D/A???
J Wikoff 05-17-2008, 02:00 PM Would unplugging wheel speed sensors to disable torque management help?

Do you have the ECM/TCM tune or just the ECM tune?
My understanding is the torque management is a huge deal on these cars.

Searching through your posts I couldnt find any baseline runs prior to the mods, did you run it before the tune? Weather can wreak havoc on these cars just like other LSX powered vehicles so finding out the DA may help. You should be able to get into the 13's but its also possible your 1/8th mile may be slower and your car may back half better getting you into the 13's.
I'd suggest getting a dashhawk to keep an eye an log your runs to make sure everything is running correctly. If you'd like one shoot us an email and i'll send you a coupon code for the lowest price anywhere.
If you need any help please ask, we'll be happy to go over everything with you!

You know, I thought about that... seemed like she was pulling like mad towards the end...

Very tempting and thanks! I'll be in touch when I return from Japan

Wow, have a good time in Japan! :) If you need to talk to someone before you get back either email us with questions/concerns or when you will be available and I'll make sure someone is around to take your call since you are on such a different time zone right now.
1992B4C 05-17-2008, 04:19 PM Come, DA with a 68 degree temp run cant be that bad! What state was it in? My 13.92 run in Phoenix AZ had a 9.049 in the 1/8th(DA was approx. 3500ft on that run). Most of my 1/8th times are in the 9.0 range and a 8.975 when I ran my 13.81 a month ago. Although your tune should have helped out more. Any dyno numbers before or after the tune or anything? 60' on these cars arent that good imo because there really isnt that much torque down low. Shame you werent at a 1/4 mile track, you probably would have been in the 13's.

It could be if his track is 2000 feet above sea level and he had 80% humidity or something :) You never know! :)
1992B4C 05-17-2008, 05:12 PM True, I took it for granted he was near you guys!

I think you hit the nail on the head. These cars do NOT like to come out of the hole, but top end, they scream.

I thought with our first steep gear and some traction control..they come outta the hole pretty good for a 4000 lb car....what other sedans in that price range and weight could pull that hard? Im all for some traction control....you go faster without burning rubber....my car hooks up when left in regular auto mode...just a slight scratch and she goes..
I found that at least on the street having raced modded 06' GTO with M6s...and a new M3...ive out lauched them across the light and intersection..only to have them pull on me after i topped on 2nd gear ..going into 3rd with like a .7 second delay in shift..an M3 pulled a whole car once I went into 3rd from 2nd....
The GTo caught me at the mid range of 3rd....and kept pulling
VENOM 06-04-2008, 08:44 PM 85 degree day at Raceway park in NJ, ran a 13.785. 60' time was 2.067. The car really pulls hard when it gets movin. Out of the hole its ok, but really runs well higher in the RPM's and as speed increases.

Probably has to do with the 2.92 gears pushing 4000lbs... Go up to a 3.73 or something and I bet it makes a huge difference.:driving:

And the car cutting off the power while trying to get the car to move. Gotta love TQM

There's your problem. Either the track had terrible prep or you need a lot more practice launching the car. It seems the G8s are capable of 2.0 60' times with some practice. Cutting .2 off of your 60' is like cutting .4 off of your 1/4 time, which would easily put you in the 13s. Practice makes perfect, but sometimes there's just nothing you can do if the track's no good.
G8>550i 06-05-2008, 11:38 AM What do people consider the best way to launch the G8?
VENOM 06-05-2008, 12:09 PM well i had a 60' time of 2.065 on 85 degree day. held car at about 1,000 RPM, TCS off, regular drive, 3rd yellow came on, I floored it, ran a 13.785.
next time i go down I may bring RPM's to 1,500 and see what happens. I had NO wheel spin, not a chirp, nothing from 1,000 RPM, so if I can go higher should help it out.
locrzng888 06-05-2008, 04:05 PM Its not the gear, just need to work on the launch. Lots of the cars are running low 2.0s and thats why they pull hard on the bottom, mainly after 2000 rpm. Not to many rides have 4.0+ low gear. Most of the 4l60 or 4l80's have low gears in the 3.2's or so. . If you had a 373 final gear ratio, I don't think you could hook the car up, its just multiplying the torque so quickly that you would be in second before you could shift it in the manual mode. Mine launches best at about 1000 rpm, you don't need to get up on the converter that much. Mine just lights the tires hard if you launch much over 1100 or so. Good luck, you'll get it.

I put mine in neutral and rev it to about 4 grand before dropping it in D.
Thank you GM for a good warranty.
(I'm joking btw).
Napper 07-04-2008, 03:15 PM I had a brazen all blinged out.....lurking behind my 06. At the light i launched at 2800 and gave him alot of tial to look at.
i know it wasn't fair but he was matching me in traffic ...move per move.....i thought i'd
let him get a good look at the dms mods and the cv 8 rims.....My cars looks so much like a G8 iterms of the front andrear spoiler....but still all GTO.
i think they look awesome. i drove one....and it drove awesome. where are the mods for this car.?
add some rotors, pads headers cam, gearing.......damn i'd bet a nice 75 shot would wake them up big time....!!!!
i was just wondering what he wass thinking...i mean my cam isn't small and my exhaust is complimentary....it sounds like 450+ to the wheels without spray
well its 439 in 97 * heat fricking s florida
