It will make you AMP install easier and you won’t need to splice in to factory speaker wires
I will have to order it in bulk, so before I do it I’d like to see if there is enough interest

Estimated price is $15-$17 + shipping

Pins are ~ $0.80-$1 each

Very interested, can you post a schematic so we can better understand the layout. I'm new to the car and I don't have a good idea of the layout and how you can bypass the stock amp to use an after market one.

Uh, sure, I'd be in for one. I'm sure I'll need it somewhere down the road when I get around to doing the subs for my G8.

Cool, I was just thinking about how to tap into the rear amp when I happened onto this thread. I would definitely order one. Actually, would you be able to make a T-harness? Male on one end, female on the other with the T part for L/R speakers and +V. So it would plug in between the stock harness and the factory amp in trunk. I was just thinking about installing a new amp in the trunk for a sub. I would like to leave the factory amp/sub setup in place. Then again the. new sub would probably overwhelm the stock subs.

I just got my connector in the mail. I also ordered one extra pin with wires. I received the white housing, four male pins with wires and one female pin with a wire attached. At first I thought the female pin was a mistake, but I think JHP was looking out for me. I ordered the extra pin to put in the connector in hopes that one of the Battery Positive Voltage positions was actually ACC. But after reading the service manual in detail, I think it is actually connected straight to the battery. So the female pin is probably for the rear object sensor control module connector that many are using for a switched voltage signal.

I haven't tried to put it together yet but I'm excited to try it out. Thanks a lot! :D

That is an excellent question. I went back to the site and I don't see a link. Is there a reason for that?

I hooked up my system today. Plug worked great. Slight user error on my part. Checked the pins, checked the diagram, checked the color code on the wires, and STILL put the pin in the wrong location.

Luckily I was able to use my smallest screwdriver and disengage the lock and pull the pin back out.

I couldn't find a good ground, so I connected directly to the battery just to test the setup. Worked great! Now I have to figure out a good mounting method and locate a good ground..

You pull the factory harness from the amp in the trunk and use this connector and pins to connect to the harness. What you end up with is the speaker level outputs that are sent to the rear speakers.

But then you stock amp is no longer in use im kinda confused about this part except for the fact taht u can tap your rca's into it

You are correct. The stock amp in the trunk is taken out of the circuit. Since that amp drives the subs in the rear deck, those speakers won't work either. I'm ok with that since something back there would buzz each time the subs hit. Probably the speaker grills.

Oh i thought that amp was for all the speakers..i was going to change out those 8's in the rear deck and put some better ones in and hook them up to my amp so this makes it alot easier

First off, go to the first page of this thread and look at the pin out chart and the diagram of the connector. This is the amp connector that is in the car, NOT the one that you got from JHP.

The way the circuit is set up in the car, the sub amp takes the Rear Left and Rear Right speaker outputs from the factory head unit and uses that as inputs. The Right and Left Subwoofer outputs are the outputs from the sub amp and go to the subs mounted in the package shelf.

So first off you need to connect the pins you got with the connector from JHP to your RCA cables. Assuming you got a set of patch cables, cut one pair of connectors off. Strip the wires. Connect the pins to each of the conductors. If you intend to use shrink tubing, make sure you slide that on the wire before you attach the pins. After you make the connections, insulate everything.

Now slide the pins into the connector. Location 1 and 6 are for the left input and 2 and 7 are for the right input.

Pay attention to the polarity. Usually (+) is the center pin of an RCA connector and (-) is the shield. If you get it reversed, you might be out of phase.

What I did was plug the empty connector into the car's harness. Then using the table, matched the colors of the wires in the harness with the locations in the connector and pushed in the pins. The pins go in one way, there is a tab that will engage the pin to lock it into place.

If you install a pin in the wrong location, don't panic. The pins lock into place, so don't try and force them out. You need a very small jeweler's screwdriver, standard tip. I used a 1.0 mm blade. From the pin side of the connector, gently slide the tip into the opening. The tip will push the tab out of the pin and you can slide the pin back out.

How do I know this? As I mentioned earlier, I messed up. Normally I work on things in a set order. Right then left, or 1 then 2. However I was conflicted. Pin 1 in the harness is Left (+). So I started with pin 1 <left (+)>. Double checked the position and snapped it home. Then looked at the diagram, checked the color codes, and installed right (-) into pin 6. Yeah, started with my 1-then-2 rule, then reverted to my right-then-left rule.

I confess, I have not played with car audio in over 10 years so I am not familiar with a 5 channel amp. I am going to make the assumption that you need at least 5 inputs. This plug only gives you access to the audio inputs that go to the rear sub amp. Which is left and right rear speakers from the head unit.

ok... so are you supposed to use the L/R rear speaker outputs (1/6, 2/7) OR the L/R sub outputs (3/8, 9/10)?

or does that solely depend on the amp and what level inputs in needs?

yes.... an admitted newb question on car audio....

Yeah I figured in your pics it looked like the ends for the speakers instead of the middle of the connector for the sub outputs.

worked like a charm and much easier and more secure than tapping - especially for a wiring newb ;)

Very intresting so this would be a rca connection but would the rear deck speakers still work

The idea is to replace your rear deck speakers (subs) and your sub amplifier without splicing into the factory harness.

Here's an example of my install.

Hey, Scott, not sure what I'm doing yet. Kind of toying with the idea of doing everything - components up front, coaxes in rear doors, subs, amps, etc. I figure with this connector, it might be an all or nothing deal.
