I just got my G8 back from the dealer today, and they told me that they couldn't Auto armor the hood becuase there was a sizable rock chip on the front of it. I swore it wasn't there when I dropped the car off 2 days ago, but I can't say for sure.
Anyways, they said it could take a few weeks to get the touch up paint, and when it comes in, they will touch it up and armor the hood.
So I am thinking with as much highway driving that I do, it may not be a bad idea to get the hood protector. Does anybody have pics of what this thing looks like installed, and how much area it protects on the hood?

I personally dont think it would look good. Go for a 3m clear-bra. You can get them in peices, such as for the bumper and hood, or you can buy kits for the whole front end, and sometimes almost the whole car.

I just bought one, should come in next week. I drive a lot, more now, and will need something that's removable.

From the pic I've seen of just the part it looks like a ghetto plastic bug deflector that looks like it should be on an 80's truck.

Ordered it last Sunday, got it today, and got it installed. It doesn't look bad at all, and sure as hell doesn't look like a truck. As far as bug gaurds / rock protectors go, this one blends into the front end alot better than most I have seen. Then again, it is GM OEM.
Of course smoke blends in better with black. I had one for my grand prix, and the contrast against the light gold paint looked terrible. It was made by Auto Ventshade.
I'll be taking the G8 down to the dealer next week to get the rock chip touched up, and have them finish putting the ECP protectant on the hood. While I'm there I just might talk them into painting the hood protector to match the car. If I had this thing installed in the first place, I wouldn't be having this discussion right now.
I'm also thinking about having them install the splash gaurds too. The last thing I want to kick a rock up into my door panels or rear quarter. I already heard one "tick" this morning running down the highway.
