Took the G8GT to the track Friday night , this track is about 950 feet above sea level , it was nice outside , about 65-70 degrees. I ran 13.4 at 105 mph every run except once when I tried preloading the tires and just spun like crazy and let out of it . 2.1 60 foot times every run except for the run when I blew the tires loose (2.4 on that one) . The only modes done are :
New Era Intake , 160 thermostat , New Era custom tuning and that is it . I have a bunch more things I would like to do but it is kind of on hold until we catch up with all the work we currently have in the shop .

According to the car mags, stock is about 13.8, so he knocked off almost a half second due to his mods. Not bad.

Put the crack pipe down. No way in hell your V6 Jag runs anywhere near 105 in the 1/4 mile unless it has some heavy mods.

Very nice! My New Era CAI comes in on Friday, so with the VMS tune and your intake, I'll probably dyno next week.

No tracks close here, dammit. :p

Cool , keep us posted on your dyno numbers !

I know now from experience this intake performs well at the track , there are a lot of tricks to tuning the G8 to go down the track that might not come up on the dyno . I found this out when I was at the track , made some changes in the lower rpms , and changed the shift point for 3rd gear so that I consistantly would cross the traps in 3rd gear . Other wise you will be shifting into 4th gear while you cross the traps , and if the tranny gets hot , it will short shift at 5600 before you cross . So you will need to raise the shift point in 3rd , and copy this table to your hot shift tables . But , I have the 18 inch wheels so for the guys with the 19's this might not be as much of an issue .

Thanks , I just did the testing for the Powerbond underdrive crank pulley and managed to free up some more hp so hopefully I can get some free time to make it back down to the track to see where I am at now .

Those 3.0 Jags run like 15 sec 1/4 mile times (on average). Take your 3.0 to the track and you'll find out the hard way.

Most guys are pulling 13.8s - 14.0s in stock G8 GTs. With excellent track conditions (cool air, low humidity, sea level track) you can get a mid 13 out of a G8 GT. But at most tracks in average conditions they run high 13s.

Which is still a whole lot faster than a 3.0 Jag.
