I finally got around to getting a few things done to my G8 recently.

- Removed front license plate bracket installed by dealer :banghead:
- Installed custom license plate "888 G8"
- Tinted windows
- Installed Roto-Fab cold air intake
- Had Black Katzkin leather seats installed (MUCH nicer than factory leather)

I still need to get a picture of the seats uploaded but here is the car after getting washed and installing the intake.

I still need to take my bracket off too. how did you get yours off? Just drilled out the rivets? What did you use to patch up the holes?

I started out with a small drill bit and worked my way up until I could pull the bracket off. I haven't filled the holes yet....I'm still trying to figure out how I want to go about doing that. I will probably end up putting a GXP front bumper on when they become available anyways. :wink2:

good idea about the gxp bumper.. I think you've inspired me to whip out the drill this afternoon and see what I can do. ;)

So are you left with a couple of nasty looking holes in the front fascia?

How does the Intake Sound??? Can you hear it when you get on it?

The holes in the bumper aren't that noticeable, but I do have a dark colored car. The holes would show up more on a darker colored car.

During normal driving you wouldn't ever know the intake was there. Once you get to about half throttle it starts growling and at WOT it really starts making some noise :wink2:

:bs: Prove it! I want to see some nice pics of the katzkin leather. Which interior did you have before?

IU have to say the one great thing about the cheaper leather is that it is thicker and tougher-which doesnt make it as supple and soft,but it stands up to my ripped jeans after a hard days work-i'm a carpenter and its my ONLY driver

When I get home tonight I will post up the pictures I have of the new seats. They are much softer, look better, and have a lifetime warranty :pimp: I still have the factory (black leather w/ red inserts) seat covers, they are in the Katzkin box at the house. I will probably sell them to anyone wanting to upgrade their cloth or go to black with red inserts.

*edit* I actually had to be without the car for a week so they could send the factory covers to Katzkin since they didn't have them made up for G8's yet. I guess that means I have the first :)

On a side note............do the dealers have to drill the holes to mount the license bracket? Do G8's going to states with no front plate have no holes in the front bumper?

I was thinking of doing the Katzkins in mine; Midnight Tuscany with the Ruby Suedezkin inserts and built in cooling to replace my Red/Onyx.

The cars come undrilled. When the dealership gets the car, the new vehicle inspection takes place where they usually take off the paper and and the plastic off interior and then it gets PDI (post delivery inspection). Thats when they drill the plate. So, I got mine in PA and they dont have front plates so I was good. If you go to a dealer and buy a G8 that hasnt come in yet, tell them you dont want to plate installed or they can keep the car.

Did you do the back seat also?

I'm not sure what they would charge for a set of seat covers on the G8's. This was part of the package I got from the dealership. I was about to sign the papers and when I saw the car had red inserts I said I wouldn't buy a car with red seats so they offered to throw in a set of black Katzkin leather seats for no extra cost :wink2:

You paid to get seat covers that don't fit? Holy wrinkle towards the back of the cushion. I hope you're going back to get that fixed.

He claims he thinks the quality is better then factory. I highly disagree, from the quality I can see in the pics. Maybe the material is better quality, but the install/fitment sucks. I would have asked for a refund.

Well, considering I didn't pay anything for them to begin with and I can sell my "higher quality" factory leather seats for extra cash I don't mind too much. Maybe after they do a few more sets and deal with other bitchy owners they will have the install/fitment issues fixed and I can just take mine in to get it taken care of. I'm really not too worried about it since they have a lifetime warranty vs. the "higher quality" factory seats with a 3/36k warranty.

Are you sure you are on the correct forum and have the right car? You strike me more as a Mercedes or BMW owner :confused:

The passenger side has it as well. I'm not taking a dig at Katzkin, I'm taking a dig at the dealership. If they can't install it correctly, they really should sub it out to an interior shop. I'm also not a BMW/Mercedes fan. I've personally done custom interior work, on both cars and boats, and was taught by someone who had been doing it for 30 years. Wrinkles like that are unacceptable in my book, especially in a new car. Probably would have been better off dying the red inserts to black. Just my opinion though. Just because something is free, doesn't mean its worth it.

I have had quite a few people interested in my factory leather seats with red inserts, I'm thinking I will ask $700 for the entire set. The have less than 1k miles on them, the rear seats have never even had anyone sit on them :)
