: Roto-fab engine/radiator covers
Kevin@Roto-Fab 05-19-2008, 08:31 AM Here are a few pics of our engine covers as well as a radiator cover custom made to be used with the Roto-fab CAI. These components are aluminum, so they can be painted any color or even polished.

hetfield 05-19-2008, 03:39 PM Yummy. How much and where do I get 'em?
granatelli 05-19-2008, 03:54 PM 1. How did you guys paint the car photo on the black box to the left of the engine?
2. Can you install the engine cover (rocker arm cover) without a CAI?
granatelli 05-19-2008, 04:06 PM Sorry - the "Black Box" is the fuse relay cover.
Rue_G8GT 05-19-2008, 05:01 PM That looks really good!
Blackdevil77 05-19-2008, 05:09 PM question about the Roto--Fab intake....What happens when it rains heavily with that un-covered air filter? I'm new at this so i may be asking a stupid question right now and not even realize it:slap:
G8 Ray 05-19-2008, 05:48 PM The air filter will be fine. They drive with the hood closed. :)
VENOM 05-19-2008, 08:53 PM Yea they should be fine driving. The engine covers look really thin and flimsy to me, but thats just a picture. Looks good :)
You can read more about it on Ebay. They look and sound really well made.

The engine covers can be used without the air intake. They are a separate product all together. However, the radiator cover is designed to be used with our air intake. It contours the radius of the inlet elbow and ends at the air box on the left side.
The car was painted on the fuse relay cover using a paint mask. We debated on using the car photo on the engine covers in place of the "609". We also thought about using the car on the large open area of the radiator cover. One of the nice things about these components is the end user will have the flexibility of customizing their engine compartments for their own taste. Custom logos and/or font can be used on all of our cosmetic pieces since they are aluminum and offer large smooth areas.
hetfield 05-19-2008, 10:32 PM The more I look at 'em the more I like 'em. I hope the price is right!
granatelli 05-21-2008, 07:56 AM KLJ, thanks for taking the time to explain that !

The engine covers are quite solid and each mounts firmly at four points. This pic shows the bottom side of a cover before the rubber isolators are installed on it. The mounts are aluminum and TIG welded directly to the cover. No glue, glass, velcro, etc.

G8 Ray 05-27-2008, 09:32 AM Nice work! I'd like to see your shop sometime.
locrzng888 05-27-2008, 06:06 PM The kit on ebay runs just under a thou. Seems a little high to me. Nice looking stuff and does clean up the engine bay.
wreckwriter 05-27-2008, 06:12 PM Nice stuff but way too pricey.
hetfield 05-27-2008, 06:58 PM Those are not real prices as Roto Fab has said before - it's to get interest in the product through ebay. They have to list a price, so they put a $1K because they don't really intend on selling the prototypes (at least that is my understanding).

That would seem counter-productive to me, showing a higher price than you intended to sell for...

Might be, but here we are talking about the covers. So it is working somewhat.

hetfield 06-08-2008, 08:32 PM Any updates?

The first run of radiator covers should be complete and back from powder coating late next week. We are going with textured black on most of them since it matches the engine compartment so well. We will also offer them bare for those who want to add their own custom finish.
The engine covers are still being "tweaked". The changes being made are very minor. They will look almost identical to those pictured above in this post. We will supply mounting studs that screw into bosses on your valve covers. Once the studs are installed, the covers can be installed/removed with no tools just like your stock cover.
